catholic bishops should recognize the honesty and logic of dissenters
The article in reference to the Catholic bishops and their efforts to prevent stem cell research reminds me again of the hypocrisy of these grumpy old men. They seem obsessed with the intricacies of sex such as sperm, penetration, etc and have reduced the whole sanctlity of intercourse to some scientific experiemnt. First of all what do they know? At least by virtue of their vocation, they should know little or nothing about this whole procedure. The hypocrisy becomes clearer, however when one asks the question of these oh-so-holy men: Do they ask if their plumbers, carpenters, auto mechanics, resturants, entertainers, etc. are pro-life and against stem-cell. This duplicity become even more lethal when one realizes that their couryship of John McCain ignores his stance for the continuation of the war in Iraq, his deninal of any substantive health care, his concessions to the corporate greed of the Bush legacy, and his absolute flip-flop on torture, war mongering and the like. I wish these grumpy old men of the Catholic Church would respect the honesty, logic, and holiness of those very people they choose to demonize and excommunicate. As a cradle Catholic, I am just about out of the door and I will leave with sadness and dismay at what might have been.

Not ‘cradle Catholic’, sir. ‘Cafeteria Catholic’ is more like it.
As in, “I want to be able to pick the items from the menu that I want and ignore the rest”.
You unfortunately are not alone in your shocking misunderstanding and deliberate misrepresentation of the Catholic church’s teachings on sexuality and reproductive morality.
Don’t let the church door hit you on the way out.
Here we go again.
Gene and others can’t post a common sense post about any subject dealing with Catholic belief and injecting 21st century logic that the “Pay, Pray & Obey” folks that can’t or won’t think for themselves don’t start their crap about being Cafeteria Catholics.
I’m soooooo tired of people who can’t think for themselves, you people give me jock rash.
And here we go again with the ‘anyone who believes in the Catholic church’s teachings can’t or won’t think for themselves’ crowd.
Who cares what gives you trolls jock rash.
Sto Lat, I see that the St. Stanislaus Corporation website has finally removed “Roman Catholic” from their name, so it is now identified as “St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish.” Nice. Not so nice is that my Norton software detected and blocked spyware and malicious software when I visited there yesterday. That is not a very nice aspect of viewing the website of one of the newer Protestant churches in St. Louis. Maybe you ought to mention that to Marek and have him clean that up, eh?
Wow. Gene, if you want to make a point against the Catholic Church, make it with knowledge of the issue at hand. It’s obvious you have no idea what you are talking about.
I think it is bizarre that McCain and republicans will move heaven and earth to “save” an embryo, but the nanosecond the baby exits the birth canal, they want NO PART of saving its life.
If the newborn needs heart surgery and the parents don’t have the “Big Bucks” to pay for it, McCain and republicans say, “Too bad for you baby — Survival Of The Fittest!”
Yes, and Obama is such a champion of health care, Lisa, especially since he wants to render NO medical aid to a baby who is delivered and survives an abortion. His approach is infanticide, just let that baby die because it can’t be a human child simply because it isn’t wanted, right?

Been there.
Couldn’t pay.
Cardinal Glennon Hospital took awesome care of my daughter anyway.
Catholic Hospitals ROCK!!!

PaxVobiscumBaby,
And when the number of uninsured jumps from 50 million to over 100 million under McCain’s plan, do you think Cardinal Glennon will still be able to pay for all of the uninsured? If so, where will the money come from?
