McClellan forgot one item: Character

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Nice commentary by Bill McClellan, but one item omitted… character. How would each of the candidates perform when faced with the challenges Bill mentions? As for me, give me the tested one who demonstrated exceptional fortitude under the most horrendous of circumstances, and I don’t mean when asked to explain the relationships with Rev. Wright or Rezko.

You must be referring to the Perfect Almighty Obamamessiah. When he sat and listened to Rev Wright every Sunday for 20 years scream “God damn America”, he stood up and defended America and used his divine oratory skills to persuade rev Wright to see the error of his ways. What? He didn’t do that? In reality, he claimed he had no idea Rev Wright hated America, despite listening to him every Sunday for 20 years, having Wright baptize his children, and hiring Wright on his campaign. the most brilliant man in the history of the world, The Obamamessiah, couldn’t figure Wright out after 20 years, but we stupid unwashed masses figured Wright out in 5 minutes! Then The Obamamessiah said he couldn’t disown Wright any more than he could disown the Black community. Five minutes later, Obamamessiah disowned Wright. Don’t forget Obamamessiah’s pledge about public financing of his campaign, he flipped on that faster than a fish on a hot sidewalk. Or his NAFTA position; during the primary Obamamessiah hated NAFTA, but he was telling the Canadian authorities that his position was just pandering to the average Joe and Mary. And now, NAFTA’s OK with The Obamamessiah! And how about the abnormal number of “present” votes during his 20 minutes as an Illinois State Assemblyman? This amateur Obamamessiah isn’t ready for prime time!

Will the wicked liberals PLEASE stop giving Mr. Jones wedgies?
His eyes must be bulging from their sockets and the cords in his neck are certainly straining to be free.
His words are sounding even more shrill than normal - and the syntax is definitely more jumbled and rambling than usual…

After all the liberals come into power and the US is reduced to ashes, they will still be standing in the ruins wondering what happened, never admiting to thir failied policies, but looking for some conservative to blame.

From the forum rules:
Keep a civil tone. Resist making personal attacks or indulging in name-calling.

Mr. Maher, do any of your posts make any salient points, or are they all just smug put downs?

Ms./Mr. Realitycheck -
Thanks for the forum rules advice: Does this rule of civility not apply as well to the assorted “conservative” posters who spew their appellations, sobriquets, and bile?
Mea culpa, but I thought it was license to reply, if not in kind, then in sarcasm (although in kinder words than used by some of these posters).
Sauce for the goose…

Perhaps if some could reply with reason, rather than with lacing their messages with villifications, they could be taken seriously.
Granted that some do write with a measure of reason - but then some similar posters interlace inflammatory words, so it is difficult to take them seriously. An example would be Mr. Jones and certain other users of nom de Nets who think it bolsters their position to calumniate.

McCain is a flip-flopping, facist corporatist warmonger just like Bush!

For purely political gain, McCain voted to allow torture by the CIA, perhaps the most dispicable vote any victim of torture has cast in our county’s history! McCain was against torture before he was for it!

McCain is for Bush’s tax breaks for the already-too-rich, before he was against those breaks for the “wealthiest 10% of Americans.”

McCain was against the “intolerance” of the far religious right in 2000, now he seeks out and gets the endorsements of religious extremists and bigots like John Hagee (hates Catholics!)and Ron Parsley(hates Muslims!).

McCain’s first wife raised his children while he was a POW then, McCain dumped her for an Arizona beer heiress who funded his first Congressional campaign. Before that McCain admits in his book that he smuggled illegal substances (alcohol)across the borders of one of our allies (Saudi Arabia)when he worked as a military liaison to Congress.

Slick Johnny Mc might get a pass from the media’s Softball Express but, when McCain’s real charcter comes out, he’ll not only lose the elction but, his cool too!

Tim,

< Or his NAFTA position; during the primary Obamamessiah hated NAFTA, but
< he was telling the Canadian authorities that his position was just
< pandering to the average Joe and Mary. And now, NAFTA’s OK with The
< Obamamessiah!

The Canadians recanted the story, stating that such was not stated by one of Obama’s top staffers. It was never even claim that it was Obama who had committed this act to begin with, but a supposedly top staffer of his.

We know that McCain recently went to Canada praising NAFTA.

If Obama has exaggerated his opposition to NAFTA in order to win votes I certainly will not vote for him next time around. But I am sure and am hoping that, for this country’s sake Obama will lead a revamping of NAFTA.
