Political trips to Iraq are just theater, using our service members as ‘extras’

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Senator Obama does not have to visit Iraq to understand that the war was an ill conceived war.  If he wants to find out how well the surge is working or not working a visit there will not serve that purpose in as much as the Generals on the ground will show what they want him to see!

If he should go to Iraq, it should not be a political trip, as was McCain’s trip earlier this Spring.  Everyone knows that McCain’s trip was propaganda to be used just as he is using it now before the general election.  McCain, Lieberman’s puppet, did not know the difference between Sunni and Shite — until the puppeteer ‘pulled his strings’.  If his visit was so ‘telling’ one would assume he would at least know that much!

Stop the politicking with the lives of our brave young men and women and get serious about issues.

Excuse me, did an Obama supporter just demand to ’stop politicking…and get serious about issues”?

This clown’s followers redefine ‘asinine’ on an almost daily basis.

I am not a fan Of Senator McCain, but he has been over there more than once.
If Obama goes, it will be for pure political reasons. He could care less for, or about our troops, just like most democrats.

Before you libs start pounding away, just think back to Lurch, Durbin and a few others.

Mitchell, you are so full of yourself and hot air saying this is an ill-conceived war. Just like the ill-conceived war Clinton got us into in Bosnia? I notice you libs don’t complain about that. Every general and every soldier who has come back has said the surge is working. Every liberal that has gone over there has said the same thing. Even Harry Reid has admitted as such by saying Okay, I give up, the srge is working, like he wants us to lose this war. You libs and the mainstream liberal media are so invested in losing this war because of your hatred for Mr. Bush. You bet Obama should get his ass over to Iraq and witness the surge since he has said it is a failure, which it is NOT. But yet Obama supporters like you have no problem with him meeting with the Iranian president who wants to wipe Israel off the map and keep killing our soldiers. Look Mitchell, if you want us to lose this war, then say it and quit tap dancing around it, then you cna leave this country like most liberals can.

Slick Johnny Mc walks down an Iraqi street accompanied by helicopters, hummer, soldiers, snipers, and jets and says he feels safe! Duh!

Sectarian violence has been reduced and the numbers of attacks upon US soldiers reduced NOT by the “surge” but, by buying off our tribal and sectarian opponents and getting a ceasefire from al Sadr.

Our opponents aren’t attacking us anymore because we have given them money, training and weapons. We could’ve done this years ago BUT, we had previously insisted as a pre-condition for money, training and arms that they swear allegiance to the Iraqi Central Government. We dropped the pledge of allegiance, gave them what they wanted, and they are only better trained, better armed, and better financed for the upcoming civil war in Iraq. All this is courtesy of the “surge” and its GOP fearmongering warbats like Bush amd McCain!

Its much better that ignorant people like Obamma do no visit Iraq,it would just require our troops to protect him while he was over there. He hasn’t done a single thing while in the senate,so what do you think he would accomplish if he visited there? If he is elected he would probably send a letter of surrender to any Muslim who asked. FS,

What does a non-political visist to Iraq by an elected official look like? Should the official don mufti, sneak across the Syrian border, and spy on Iraqi citizens?

Face it, Obama has no first-hand knowledge of the situation in Iraq or anywhere else. McCain called him on it, and the Obamamaniacs are incensed that someone dared challenge the Democrat messiah.

Someone needs to inform Obama and his acolytes that if he wins the presidency, he won’t be able to hide from foreign policy crises any longer. And come the third week in January, 2009, the so-called “Bush’s War” will become “Obama’s War”.
