The “Global Warming Chicken Littles” want to control our lives

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

The President of the League of Women Voters of Missouri, Jo Sapp, believes the earth is warming and that the actions of mankind are the cause. I couldn’t disagree more.

Is the earth warming? Yes! Will it ever cool again? Yes! The climate of this planet has warmed and cooled thousands of times over millions of years. It’s doing it now and it will continue forever. Have you ever noticed that environmentalists believe that everything should stay exactly as it is right now? They say the debate is over and that a consensus of scientists agree that man is causing global warming. But, for every scientist that agrees, another does not. Centuries ago, there was a concesus in the scientific community that the world was flat…we all know how that turned out. Proving a theory is one thing, consensus proves nothing. During the cool spring months we didn’t hear a peep from these people. Now that summer is on the doorstep you can expect to get hammered daily with this nonsence.

The dominant cause of carbon emissions are human exhale and cow farts. Look for a new breath tax and the extinction of cattle if they have their way.

The “Global Warming Chicken Littles” want to control your life, through new regulations and new taxes. They really want to change the American way of life. I can’t believe that we are naive enough or sheepish enough to allow it to happen.

It’s funny that so many folks that can’t deal with a few variables to understand what might happen to their house, credit card, our national treasure… when they monkey with them claim to understand thousands of variables with very complex interactions - such as a planetary climate. Let’s see them predict the comotion in their own lives caused by their irrational chase of the precise average temperature of the earth.

The American way of life is the biggest joke on the planet. Everyone makes a huge deal about being holier than thou Christians and then a basic tenet of Christianity, Waste not, Want not is ignored so Americans can fart away precious resources.
What is really naive is to think humans throwing tons of exhaust into the air everyday are not having some sort of impact. Just look at the air in St. Louis in the fifties when everyone burned coal. Or how about the fact China at one time was heavily forested and now is without major forest areas due to human impacts in ancient times.
It is naive to think humans cannot impact the earth in a serious manner, but even if humans are truly not causing global warming, it is time to begin to develop more conservative lifestyles that conserve energy and resources rather than squander them.
While I understand the conservative motto is only truly conservative if it meets their immediate needs, it is about time to think of the future and future generations and begin to develop a much more sane use of resources so that our children and their children are not left improvised and destitute because of the arrogant failures of this generation.

It takes quite a bit of reading, but these 2 articles on “Global Warming” and “The Carbon Cycle” explain the processes in relatively plain English. Not only is there a relative consensus among climate scientists, but it actually makes intuitive sense once you gain an understanding. The human effect on our planet can be huge, and the effects on our lives can be tragic. Global climate change needs action now as well as ongoing research to refine our responses.

One of the most ridiculous arguments against global warming I ever heard was from a local radio DJ who claimed that there are more trees on the planet now than when the Pilgrims arrived, so how can the environment be getting worse?I don’t know where he got his statistics on trees as I doubt they did “tree counts” back then , but I am positive there were not as many SUVs on the road back then, not to mention semis. LOL If these people would just THINK before the open their mouths… but then, their ignorance is almost as amusing as it is scary.I figure, whether global warming concerns are exagerated or not-I think it is a very real concern-cleaning up the environment for future generations is the right thing to do,and the end result is positive change. If we adopt the attitude that things can continue as they are,as Joe seems to think, the world will become unable to sustain life due to a lack of resources and biodiversity. Not adopting more sustainable lifestyles is not an option anymore, especially with other countries wanting to model our past bad behavior. Those who argue so strenuously against any sort of positive change are really starting to sound like spoiled children who made the mess and want someone else to clean it up.

Joe-couldn’t agree with you more. The earth has not “warmed” since 1998. The Lurch mentality, is running rampant. In the 70’s, the chicken little’s were saying we were going into an ice age, that never happened.

The global warming hoax, is just another try by the liberal’s, to grab more of the peoples money, for their nanny state mentality, and give away programs, called income distribution.

In a few years, when they want more taxes, they will be saying the earth is running out of water.

Isn’t it wonderful that we have so many gullible people. Global Warming was such a great expression until we had one of the coldest winters in a long long time. It wasn’t quite 30 years ago when the “in thing” was Global Cooling. Well, that didn’t pan out so go from global cooling to global warming and now to climate change. That way it will always work I guess. Now you have the crisis minded followers wanting us to change our life because some socialistic non-scientists and weak minded electorate who want to force their “sky is falling” theories on all of us.

It was PT Barnum who said there was a sucker born every minute and was he right. Could some of you alarmists tell me that since SUV’s are the reason for global warming here on Earth, then what is your explanation for warming on Mars? You government schooled fools will follow whatever the crisis of the day is belted out by your socialistic friends in the media.

Please don’t bring me the hogwash that we want dirty air and dirty water. That infantile argument has no basis. What happens is that if we don’t agree with you then we want dirty water and dirty air. Most of the so-called scientists are government paid and are assuring themselves of a job if they continue this hoax. Thank goodness government is protecting us I guess. Look at how they continually screw up so much on a daily basis!

Mr. Mattus, You gave me a smile. I agree with you. The sun is the ONLY deciding factor of what the temperature of the Earth will be…however it is measured. When, and if the earth heats, or cools it’s easy to adap to either.

Personally, I don’t care what the Sun decidesto do. My house is immune. I have photovolataic soler penels on my roof that provides more electricity than I need. I have Geothermal pups installed at a 56 foot depth. They are powered by Solar panel #7.

If the temperature is 150 degrees outside. or 60 below, the house qould stay at 72 degrees. That is the temperature I prefer. If we have an ice storm that knocks power provided by our Co-op, I throw a switch and provide my next door neighbor with power. Otherwise I feed my surplus electricity down the like to the Utility.

I’m as “self-sufficient” as it is possible to be with today’s technology.

I have adaptee. LOL

The Competitive Enterprise Institute launched a national advertising campaign in April, focusing on the threat to affordable energy posed by Al Gore’s global warming agenda. The ads contrast Gore’s energy-consuming lifestyle with the life-and-death need for energy in developing countries. It’s too bad — but not surprising — that the Post-Dispatch doesn’t offer balanced coverage of the issue. (Click on my name to read more about the ad campaign.)
