Get over it! People celebrate when they win
Letters
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

It is hard enough going through life trying to fight every little injustice or worse, big homophobic ways of thinking.  I read the above article thinking it would tell me something about softball.  It did.  It also told me something of Israel Gutierrez’ racism.  It seems Israel doesn’t like the way Japan celebrated its victory over the U. S.  “They the Japanese players) celebrated while starting pitcher Cat Osterman was in tears and being consoled as she was escorted off the field.”  So what!!??  Wouldn’t anybody celebrate after knocking off the clear favorite to win the gold medal?  Israel, have you been watching the Olympics, or any other sporting event?  People celebrate when they win.People are sad when they lose.  It doesn’t matter what country, the examples of human behavior being uplifted when you win, and the opposite when you lose are in front of us every day.  “They (the Japanese players) celebrated within inches of Watley as she tried to explain her disgust in  losing.”  Is this a problem of the Japanese, or a problem ofthe media in setting up close to the winners and their exhuberance in winning?  They (the Japanese players) celebrtated on top of the medal stand as the U. S. team stood one spot to their right with tears not completely dried.”  Israel, if you’re going to try to change the celebratory way players have acted from every country that I can recall, then let’s address this issue, without picking out the Japanese.  To me, this is sour grapes, in not having the favored U. S. team win.  They lost in a fairer display of sportsmanship and rules, than anything resembling fairness out of the gymnastics or swimming arenas.  Israel and others should stop their homophobic racist way of looking at others and start reporting sports without the editorials.  If Israel wants to display his contorted way of thinking, then let him go to the Opinion section, where all too often you can lose your breakfast by the iews therein of our sisters and brethren. Richard MeyersTown and Country
