St. Charles made the wrong decision on Sara, the pet pig
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
I am up in arms about the St. Charles City Council’s ruling that Sarah the potbellied pig is in violation of a ordinance barring swine in the city limits. Hopefully, her owners will pursue a course of action that will either overturn the ruling, or put in place another ordinance that would accommodate Sarah. Suffice to say, in my opinion, the Council’s decision was not only unfair, cruel, and a travesty of justice, but most of all, it wasn’t kosher. Gene CartonOlivette

It seems the only true pigs in the story sit on the city council. The ordinance was to keep pig farms (or at least a pen full) out of suburbia, not ban pets.
I’m reminded of an immortal short story called “pigs is pigs”, which I believe was made into an animated cartoon years ago. Only this one was about a freight agent who refused to allow a customer to pay COD charges on two guinea pigs because they were pigs, not pets. Of course, by the time they figured out the answer, there were way more than 2 of the critters.
Face it, some pigs (or was it animals?) are more equal than others.
It’s too bad that they couldn’t come to an agreement that helped this four legged porker…and the pig too.
