There are better ways to affect the election than stealing yard signs
This morning we were greeted by a glorious, crisp Fall morning, perfect for the grade school soccer game to which we were headed. Imagine our surprise and bewidlerment when we realized that someone had pilfered every Obama/Biden yard sign from our quiet Crestwood subdivision and surrounding area. Our mild-mannered neighborhood is surprisingly representative of our country: everyday American families next to Bosnian immigrants, and even a British expatriate thrown in there for flavor. And the political views and leanings are equally unique, with red and blue signage of alternating political views every other house. What on earth is more American and patriotic than that? Freedom to express our different views and hopes and dreams is the hallmark on which this country was founded, and it is what has made us a great nation. So why steal yard signs? My first hope would be that folks just didn’t know where the nearest Obama/Biden office was located (Grasso Plaza is closest to us.), and their only recourse was to take them. Of course, that explanation is not very likely. Stealing demeans the process and reflects badly on the morals and judgment of the theives. Missouri statutes specifically make it a crime to steal political signage (not to mention other personal property). So here is a suggestion: instead of breaking the law, get out and vote and be part of the wonderful democratic process which has made this nation possible. Or keep up this nonsense. We have more signs.

“Stealing demeans the process and reflects badly on the morals and judgment of the theives.”
Exactly!!!! That is why I don’t vote socialist (democrat)!!!!!
We need a flat tax and more freedom (literal and economic).
That’s funny, on our street, every McCain sign was stolen last Thursday. A one mile stretch. Every one gone. I’ve repositioned my cameras to the well lighted part of the yard. I’ve also makred them with unique marks so they can be identified. I live in a liberal area and this is par for the course. They do it every year.

You have given us a clue to Sean P. Dineen’s dilemma. The thieves are obviously graduates of City of St. Louis public high schools unable to read at the Kindergarten level.
So, Mr. Dineen -
Did you expect sympathy for the democratic process from these self-styled “conservatives?”
Come now, Sir! You are just another deluded liberal who thinks the Reps of today still deserve the sobriquet of “Grand” in the “GOP.” Well, at least the writers thus far - but we still have several other prominent pejorative-pushers pending…
Typically it is the Republican signs that mysteriously dissapear.
Not that stealing signs is right, but does anyone really believe that yard signs can change the outcome of an election?
I can’t help but wonder if this is politically motivated or simply teenage pranksterism. My yard signs have also been stolen. They read: “For Sale By Owner.”
My sign was stolen out of my yard this weekend in Wentzville. I was awake and watching television in my bedroom, and had my window open because of the nice weather. I heard someone take the sign, but couldn’t get to the window fast enough to catch them in the act. I paid $8 for my sign, and as a full-time student with a husband who is this semester also a full-time student, that’s an $8 that I don’t have to spend repeatedly! I had had my sign for just over a week! This weekend I purchased another sign, and this time placed it inside my front window. The window trimming blocks it somewhat, but I think the message still comes through, and honestly, I can’t afford $8 every week or so to replace my sign. I was very disappointed in the whole experience, especially since the McCain-Palin sign remains five houses down the street from mine. I have been inspired by this sign theft to volunteer at a phone bank for Obama this week, so I hope the sign thief realizes that his actions actually motivated me to push harder to get my candidate elected! I encourage those who are also victims of sign theft to work harder for the cause as well - as the volunteer coordinator in the St. Charles office told me - signs and bumper stickers are great, but they don’t vote!
“signs and bumper stickers are great, but they don’t vote!”
But dead people do, for Obama. As well as thousands of homeless people in Ohio that were bussed to places where they could register and “cast a ballot”, since them voting would violate Ohio law, with no proof and no accountability. One group that was again heavily involved in voter fraud needs no introduction to us, or Obama, their former lawyer; ACORN.
How is an organization that has conducted systematic voter fraud all across the nation still allowed to have anything to do with voter registration?
