My wife’s a teacher, so sign me up to be First Dude
Letters about President-elect will come and go. But the one that really hit me was by Patricia Noland (Nov. 12) when she reminded us all that Barack Obama was, first and foremost a teacher. Noland writes that by being a teacher, Obama has the ability to prioritize, organize, explain complex systems in an easily understood manner, and, deliver his message without being the center of attention. It’s almost like when we were kids and the teacher entered the room. The spitwad throwing, gum chewing, and other antics stopped. We opened our books and (at least pretended) to start studying. I am married to a teacher. She has these attributes also. I wonder what kind of president she would make? Probably a damn good one if my marriage is any indication. As the old axiom goes,” any American boy can grow up to be President. Well, so can any woman, teacher, etc. I think I will ask my wife to run since she was a great teacher. I guess this means I can grow up to be a “First Dude”?

It might help if your wife had some political experience, but I would encourage anyone that wants to lead this great nation to put themselves and ideas for the public to vote on.
This government needs more politicians that struggled hard to get to the top, not just sons of former Senators and Presidents.
A teacher? Give me a break. He was a part-time professor at a law school. I spoke to a class at the University of Chicago recently and there was very little spitball throwing, although I did see some gum chewing, coffee drinking and one guy had a danish. It seems college has changed quite a bit.
Michael, it only works if you are a liberal. If a liberal woman makes it to President first then we get to hear all the accolades of how wonderful it is that a woman finally got to be President. Somehow, if it’s a conservative woman I have a feeling that she then becomes “trailer trash” as what the liberals did to Sarah Palin. I remember all the comments about Sarah’s husband during the campaign of how much of a wimp he was, among many other comments that were truly disgusting. Then again, I expect that from liberals so I guess it’s no surprise!
I hope the Republicans keep Palin as their poster child. This will further ensure the party’s demise.
Remember how McCain’s camp even turned on Palin? Maybe the Republican’s are realizing they can’t keep trying to have retards leading their party. But I hope they do, damn bible-thumping conservatives can go get blessed by witch doctors without being my leader.

By the way Billy, if McCain is running for president then what has that got to do with Palin leading the party. Is Biden leading the Democrat party? I was referring to 2012, much like Palin seemed to have been doing while stealing the show from McCain.

“Class” women also have intelligence, like Africa being a continent, not a country. But blame the liberals in McCain’s campaign party for leaking that info.
