If Obama can restore our honor and treasure, he will have worked miracles
As the bloated, decaying corpse of the Bush Administration is towed out to sea for safe sinking, it is important for us to remember the incredible damage that the last 8 years have done. If Mr. Obama can recover something of our national honor, national treasure, and international reputation, he will have accomplished miracles.
1) The Iraq war: The war began with lies, was run by incompetents, and has created vast numbers of enemies for our country. The next 20 years will be consumed in recovering from this shameful period. The war was entirely unjustified, and we knew it at the moment we invaded. We had the knowledge of the false war, and Bush invaded anyway. Bush and Cheney should be tried as war criminals.
2) The national debt: In 8 years, Bush/Cheney have doubled our long-term national debt. This is due to the incredibly stupid conservative economic idea that you can cut taxes, run two wars, and cut no programs. Bush and Cheney should be tried as economic criminals.
3) National unity of the United States: The Republican Party has used social issues and hot-button emotional nut ideas to divide the United States. In the last eight years, one group after another has been used as a bogeyman. Our nation is one nation, not the good guys versus the bad guys. The Republican Party has done this divisive, hateful politics because they know that they have loser issues. Bush and Cheney should be tried as national unity criminals.
4) Our international reputation: First there was the Iraq war. Then there was the banking crisis, another Republican mess created by stupid deregulation. It will take a long time for other non-Americans to respect us. Bush and Cheney should be tried as international criminals.
5) The environment and science policy: Bush has done everything possible to damage the environment and has damaged science policy. From drilling for oil in national parks to breaking his campaign promise to regulate carbon to muzzling scientists to forcing science policy executives to actually lie, Bush/Cheney have done great harm to the environment, to our scientific competitiveness, and to the future ability to compete. Bush and Cheney should be tried as science criminals.
It has not taken long for the Republican letter writers to begin to try to damage his presidency and he has not yet been inaugurated. We must all support Mr. Obama, as he tries to restore our country from the incredibly damaging 8 years of Republican misrule under Bush. For those Republicans in the audience, you should spend your time apologizing for your votes for Bush, rather than criticizing Obama.

Yep Paul, all this country needs is Jimmy Carters second term, like you and all your idiot liberals desired.
Paul Thompson - Clear cogent political argument - 1
Concerned — Insults and childish name calling - 0
Looks like Paul is the clear winner.
HK that clear political argument is the same tired trash you all have been throwing around for nearly 7 years.
Every one of those five points in Paul’s letter have a laundry list of democrat co-conspirators.
I do agree with #2. Bush should have vetoed every budget until Congress cut spending with a chainsaw.
HK, do you consider stupid and loser to be part of a clear, coherent political debate?
Amazed–
I don’t know, do you consider yourself clear and cogent ?
Just a point in passing.
More military people died during President Clinton’s administration (almost twice as many) as died under the Bush administration.

How to practice in devisive, hateful politics:
Write a letter to your local paper and make outlandish, untrue statements and place the entire blame of everything that is wrong with your country on one party.

I give up what war did we fight in 1993 that caused 1213 military deaths?
Without going through the document line by line I am taking the document to mean that the vast majority of those that died did so in non combat, we did have the “Black Hawk” down situation but it does not account for more than about 20 deaths.
So the majority in 1213 were deaths by other means, which include training accidents, disease, murder, auto accidents etc.
Now explain to us how you compare this to battle deaths? Perhaps you did not think anyone would question your poor comparison.
Paul
Your kind must be removed from our society. Until you can come up with a legit post you should keep quiet. This is going to be fun ripping your post apart.
1. The Iraq war was not run by incompetents. If you remember FDR went to war and wasn’t successful right away. We are winning. The only argument you have which you didn’t even present was that trying to make that country a democracy was a foolish thing to do. It won’t stay that way, but you in your pathetic Bush hatred you forgot to bring that very valid point to bare.
The war was voted on and Congress including one of your Libby pals John Kerry who had access to the same info voted to invade Iraq, so don’t blame Bush for the WMDs not being there or for bad intelligence. provided. I believe they were and Saddam was given 3 months of our threats to invade if he didn’t comply to hide them. Perhaps if we would have invaded immediately we may have found them. As far as war criminal that is so typical of a Libby like you. Statements like that are exactly why the world should be rid of you.
2. What is the second War. Afganistan isn’t a war if so it is part of the same war. Yes the deficit is higher, new and much more sophisticated equipment cost alot to use and replace. Any administration would have been in the same situation. The People don’t want higher taxes. Cut programs? sure, he could have done that. How about your liberal global warming programs. After all we can’t stop it as much as you think we can. No, we are too insignificant in the grand scheme of things, much like your post is to mine. No we should actually prepare for it rather than try to stop it. That is just an example of would you be willing to part with any global warming prevention program to make you happy. I do agree that could have been handled much better. Perhaps I would have agreed with you if you weren’t so jaded. So now the Bush administration is both war and economic criminals. Yeah ok. whatever.
3. The Republican Party has used social issues and hot-button emotional nut ideas to divide the United States. Where ever did you get that? Look at your post moron. It is filled with hatred and intolerance. Geez dude your messiah has been elect and yet your still whine about Bush. Obama will fix it. He’ll simple wave his hand and poof everything will be fine. Oh yeah I forgot you thought that “poof everything will be fine” would happen upon his election.
4. No stupid our back pedaling and liberal wishy washiness is the cause of the lack of respect from others. Once again it is the lack of backbone that causes the disrespect. Also like what you have in your post of Bush hatred that separates or divides us others see that and see what chumps we are. They see the political infighting and are taking measures to exploit itin an effort to destroy us.
5. Ok perhaps you don’t have a concept of just how big Denali is. It is almost the size of Texas. I don’t know how many acres he wants to use for oil drilling, but if you look at a map of the US. Do you see the dot that says Dallas within Texas. Bush’s oil drilling will fit inside it. If you are referring to Bush’s stance on Embrionic stem cell research. He was dead on with that. He was trying to appease everyone. Still people on both sides whined about it. Oh yeah let’s face that facts about that too, It’s not about research in order to save lives. It’s about when a human life begins. The stem cell argument is about abortion vs. pro-life not finding cures. Remember it is the specific type of stem cell research being debated not stem cell research in general, but you selfish libbies would have us believe otherwise. Oh and now they are War, economic and science criminals. Gee Paul I certainly hope no one ever charges you for a crime simply because you did something they didn’t agree with.
Finally, yes they GOP writers are creating articles to make Obama look bad and guess what they are as bad as you some of them with some stupid narrowminded look at him. I don’t trust Obama. I fear what he will do for this country to make us fall further apart. I hope he does right. IF he does he’ll have my vote in 12. Paul, one question if Obama decides to expand oil drilling in alaska, to stay in Iraq and even invade Iran, thus furthering our debt, and economic downfall, stop Embryonic stem cell research, should we charge him too as a war, econmic, and scientific criminal as well?
100% Correct
Look at you answer then talk about someone else writing a hate filled reply.
You want a history lesson? FDR went to WW II with no choice, if you remember a little thing called Pearl Harbor left him no choice. Iraq was a war of choice.
As for the intelligence that all others saw, they saw a filter intelligence. Even the CIA admits that they were told not to include some information because it did not agree with the administrations view point. This eventually led to many of the top analyst quitting because they could not stand it anymore.
Afghanistan and Iraq are two different wars. One had to do with 9/11, note the money people and planners were aided by the Taliban in Afghanistan. The other had nothing to do with 9/11 unless you wish to believe the mantra which was proven incorrect even before we went into Iraq. Note by the time we went in Bush was pushing the WMD line more than any other line.
As for our standing over seas. Look what they thought of us when Bush took over and what they think of us today. Bottom line he, severely damaged our foreign relations.
