Billingsly, Limbaugh must have missed the last election
A distraught Rush Limbaugh loudly proclaims that he hopes the Obama administration “fails.” Z. Dwight Billingsly decries Barack Obama’s “socialism” agenda (”To go on offense, GOP must play tough defense”, Jan. 22). Billingsly still longs for more unabashed (unbridled?) capitalism, deep and permanent tax cuts, increased national defense spending, government policies crafted by businessmen and industry executives, and energy strategies that emphasize only oil, coal and nuclear power for the “foreseeable future.” He insists that the Republican party must declare its conservative principles to differentiate itself from the “competition” (Democrats).
Did these two arch conservatives totally miss the last election? While they fiddled and fantasized about the past eight years and their dream of a permanent Republican majority, the tide dramatically turned. The conservative ideas they loudly championed during the campaign were rejected by a clear majority of voters. How much more out of touch and irrelevant can these guys be?

Are you high or just stupid? Conservatives had no candidate in the last election, McCain was chosen by NE independents, democrats and the media, NOT by Conservatives. Personally I have listened to Rush and find his stuff not only dim-witted, but on occasion offensive. One wonders if his supporters really undestand that Rush is a laughable big-mouthed dimwit whose claim to fame is his big mouth and not on his political or social acumen.
Rush’s penetrating insight is a laugh and no need to twist words my friend.
