Government is becoming the biggest player in a shell game
Let me see if I understand this right, A Democtratic legislated and a Republican administrated TARP hands Bank of America $15 billion and them proceeds to give them another $10 billion. Then I read about BofA asking for more.
However, Republican leadership suggest that I should be outraged that there is $1 billion in stimulus funds to be shared amongst all cities for Community Block Grants to help rebuild city streets and community centers. I should be outraged at all of them. So far BofA has layed off people, encouraged consolidation in the financial markets and willing admits that Countrywide’s, which happens to be owned by BofA, loan modification program is an utter failure.
How about the remaining $350 billion that is set aside for TARP be used for infrastructure, schools and community development grants. Then there is a chance that some one might get a road, bridge or a school rebuilt while we actually invest in the future of our country. Instead, our government is sadly becoming the biggest player in a shell game.

Anything important is never left to the vote of the people. We only get to vote on some man; we never get to vote on what he is to do. - Will Rogers
Republicans are outraged at $1 billion in aid to help rebuild our cities…
Are Republicans outraged that Bank of America, which received $25 billion in bailout money in December, gave notice of it’s plan to exercise it’s option to purchase shares in China Construction Bank Corporation (CCB) from China Huijing Investments?
Ask me again why I’m a Democrat.
Comrade Garrison, we all know why you are a Democrat. Now, if we could just figure out why anyone would fall for the propaganda and corrupt hypocrisy of either national party. Both are playing the voters and taxpayers for suckers. The bait is a financial hand out or some new laws to enforce your opinions on fellow citizens.
Just take a look at the perks, health care, retirement, and power of politicians, bureacrats and lobbyists of both sides. Then look at entitlements, grants, subsidies and corporate welfare. These burdens on the taxpayers were created and expanded under Democrats and Republicans, alike.
While brainwashed partisans bicker like school children, the political elite are eating your lunch.
I pay for my lunch with union wages…No thanks to the Republican party.
Garrison,
Perhaps you could tell us what the great skills are that you receive your union wages for? Are you an electrician, a carpenter, a cabinet maker, perhaps a shoe maker. An airframe and power plant mechanic, an avionic technician, or perhaps an engineer. Or could it be that you attach exterior mirrors on a car assembly line. Do you install engine mount bolts or maybe drive a forklift to load trucks? Come on Garrison, you constantly harp on the great union wages, what do you do to earn them?
Those of you asking for Garrison to explain himself need to learn what “Ad Hominem” means.
ad hominem (plural ad hominems)
1. (logical fallacy) A fallacious objection to an argument or factual claim by appealing to a characteristic or belief of the person making the argument or claim, rather than by addressing the substance of the argument or producing evidence against the claim; an attempt to argue against an opponent’s idea by discrediting the opponent himself.
2. A personal attack.
TARP is a fiasco. No oversight, admissions by Bush administration personnel that nobody knows where the first $350 billion went, ONLINE forms to ask for a piece of the TARP money … It’s a boondoggle, and we’ve been forced to take it up the rear.
I have a Political Science degree from Missouri State, 1982 (SMSU), an associates degree in Industrial Electronics, 1986 (UMSL, SLCC), and I’m currently taking business classes at St. Louis University. After completing my degree at Missouri State, I entered the IBEW electrical apprenticeship program and was granted 29 college credits for completing the apprenticeship. I used those credits to complete my associates degree. I worked as a union electrician for 8 years.
I’m a proud member of IBEW Local #1, and a member of the National Electrical Conttractors Association. I started by own contracting business in 1996. I employ 27 IBEW journeyman wireman who work on small commercial projects throught the St. Louis area.
I provide my employees good wages and benefits, including healthcare.
My employees aren’t dependent on Medicare or Medicaid (Wal-Mart).
I paid over $300,000 in payroll taxes last year. Taxes that build our schools and our neighborhoods.
I believe in the union movement because it works.
garrison, By payroll taxes, do you mean social security taxes? If so you are caught in yet another lie.
In order to pay 300,000 in payroll taxes, you would have to have payroll of over 4.5 million.
Fess up, you made that crap up and don’t have anyway to back it up.
You don’t have a clue about running a construction business Looney…
