Muslims removed from flight don’t need an apology

Regarding “Muslims taken off Jet get Apology”: On Saturday, I was reading this article and was wondering why two U. S. Muslim advocacy groups are so angry. After September 11, we as Americans were told to be observant for suspicious activity whether its aboard a plane or a bridge. On New Years Day, multiple passengers over heard a suspicious remark coming from one of the nine Muslims passengers. These passengers were concerned and alerted Air Tran employees who than took proper steps by alerting Air Marshals. Air Marshals then took proper steps in removing all nine passengers and conducting an investigation. All passengers were removed from the plane, re-screened and allowed to re-board. I applaud those passengers for being observant. Let us all understand we live in a dangerous world. We, as people, must be observant to prevent another 9\11 from happening. Therefore, no one is owed an apology for being inconvenienced. Together as people we will continue to win the war on terror.

Bob,

Your Christian reference reminds me of the 18th century reprimand given the Puritan Church in New England by the Puritan Church of England. The home church in England advised the Americans that they should try harder to save the souls of the Native Americans prior to killing them.

Discrimination is discrimination no matter how you dress it up. Just being young, male and Muslim doesn’t automatically make you a potential terrorist any more than being young, black and male makes you a thug. The family should have received an apology when they were cleared, period, and then rebooked on another flight. That is what civilized adults(and even children) do.They APOLOGIZE when they make a mistake, even an honest one.Everyone understands the heightened security these days, but could we lose the paranoia? Saying all Muslims are presumed terrorists is every bit as offensive as saying all Christians are like the religious radicals who bomb abortion clinics and don’t care who else gets hurt,or the splinter groups who practice polygamy with teen brides.Neither is truly representative of the religion they profess to follow.

Bob and Lunar,

Good posts!

I support AirTran too. You can’t trust a muslim. Anyone who thinks they are just like you and me is kidding themself. Muslims are trained to kill and die.
