War crimes: Let the trials begin

During the past hour this evening I became heartened as I listened to a discussion on public radio as a discussion was carried on regarding bringing charges against the those in charge of the wars that are being carried on. As one who has been so ashamed of the activities carried out in the name of the USA, I think at least a discussion of an open inquiry is necessary to show the rest of the world that we hold ourselves responsible for anything untoward in this regard. Among things discussed were charges possibly brought against Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, and yes, even George W. Bush.

For the most part the talk centered on torture and the legality of it, but I believe that the invasion of a sovereign country was a step too far and should have never been taken in the first place. The result has been so crippling to the status of this country in so many ways. Not only in view of the people forever lost or wounded, the financial cost, but the unmeasurable sorrow visited upon the poor innocents of a country that was so very destitute to begin with.

Yes, I would welcome a hearing on war crimes against those who have taken away from this country the pride of living in a beneficient country who those of the greatest generation have striven so hard to give us. I mourn for the fact that my parents will go to their graves looking in the rear view mirror at what we’ve lost and what my grandchildren are inheriting. I pray to God that it can be in some part repaired.

Let the trials begin.
