It’s refershing to have a leader tell the truth
I have heard numerous times over the past few weeks (mostly from conservative radio) that President Obama has been overly negative when discussing the health of the economy and the outlook of the future.
I, for one, after 8 years of being lied to, deceived, and/or kept in the dark find it quite refreshing to have a leader be straight with us. Anyone remember how long it took the Bush Administration to finally admit that we are in a recession? Nine Months! That was rediculous, and yet he got a major pass on it! You see, that is the kind of play that isn’t appreciated by someone with a level head. Afterall, how can you appropriately plan for the future when your leaders aren’t telling you the full truth about the now? Simply, you can’t and it makes the situation worse.
So here we are with these conservatives (e.g., Rush, Sean Hannity, as well as those on the stock market), running amok that our President isn’t all rosy and cheery about the situation. To these people all I have to say is that if you so yearn to be lied to, then move to the formet Soviet Union. They do a good job of keeping their citizens in the dark over there. I want honesty from my leaders. In the end, what does it say about the state of our country when people would rather hear a skewing of the truth than hear the actual truth? No wonder why this nation is circling the drain…fast.

I wonder who told Obama that there were no earmarks or pork in the $787 billion Stimulus Law or the $410 billion Omnibus spending disaster? He was quite forceful in informing the public there was none.
Maybe I’m wrong, but isn’t the stimulus law by nature a bundle of “pork” spending, as you refer to it? We have dished out billions upon billions for wars, but when it comes to trying to keep everyone afloat, well damnit that’s just irresponsible use of tax payers money. Do we really need another bridge to come down for the reality of our situation to sink in?
Matthew must be a product of the Marist Government schools that we have. If you really believe he is telling you the truth then I got some swamp land to sell you.
Enough said. Another Socialist, thats all!
Sorry, Matthew. You are the one being lied to by the messiah. He hasn’t told the truth since he came upon the scene, starting with where he was born.
They really need to keep the doors closed to the nut house 24/7. These socialist left wing nut jobs are really drunk on the kool-ade.
We are just waiting for your messiah to actually tell the truth for once, and hire a cabinet member that shouldn’t be in jail.

This has to be a joke, doesn’t it? The messiah would say anything, I mean anything that would benefit him politically. “I don’t believe in big government.” He told that one the other night. “There is not one piece of pork in this bill, not one.” The whopper, “we must restore fiscal responsibility,” he told that one today. He is so crooked they will have to screw him into the ground when he dies.
If Bush and / or Obama did or did not lie(d) in their assessment of our economy isn’t really much of a point in the big picture. What is more worrisome to me is the fact that most of the population can be so delusional – pinning everything on a single man’s claims. Had we all simply glanced at the national debt, suppressed interest rates, easy money, generous public-workers’ pensions… over the years – err decades – we would have seen how bad things were and prepared our families for it, if not tried to stop it.
Dooood, he’s so honest, really man, he’s sooooo honest. He tells me whaatevver I want to hear; heeee’s so coooool doooood.
Lisa quoted this economics professor in a previous response to a letter, will she claim this quote?
“The taxing aspect of this is worse than Robin Hood,” said economist Peter Morici, a University of Maryland professor. “He’s resurrecting class warfare for political gain.”
