Missouri needs to put an end to the puppy mills
Within one week the Humane Society of Missouri has rescued 300 dogs from Missouri puppy mills. As one who is sympathetic to the suffering of the animals especially when it is a result of pure greed and ignorance inflicted by humans I end up shelling out a donation to help defray the expenses incurred by the care and treatment of these animals. With the economy in the shape it is in the HSMO is overwhelmed with animals who are relinquished by owners who can no longer afford them. They are also busy rescuing stray and abandoned pets as well. As a tax payer I resent the fact that I not only finance the Missouri Department of Agriculture regardless of their blatant lack of regulation of puppy mills. They are responsible for performing these so-called puppy mill inspections. I also am paying for the damages resulting from their many oversights. Perhaps the system would be fairer if those who are vehement in denying any penalties towards puppy mill industry i.e. Senator Kit Bond, American Kennel Club, and pet stores to offset costs of the care and recovery of these animals. It is bad enough that Missouri is known for itʼs meth labs and puppy mills in the national spotlight. When are we going to say “enough is enough!”

Missourians have a lot to be ashamed of. We need to get our Mo. state reps and senators to implement laws to ban puppy mills. Kit Bond is worn out and tired and could care less about such trivial matters.
A state rep. from our great state put into law a few years back to make it illegal for photo’s to be taken at puppy mills. It passed thanks to the republicans dominating both house and senate.
I will research this law and post the details shortly.
The republicans that dominate our state government are too worried about overturning abortion, stem cell research, and overturning the will of the voters to fit their wishes. Puppy mills are not a priority.
The socialist democrats are determined to destroy every last free enterprise business in this country. These dogs are livestock not people and the owners of the livestock have a right to run their business as they see fit. With tear filled eyes these disgusting liberals run to the government to shut some guys business down but they are too lazy to start a business themselves. Obama is going to wreck this country.
I would love to see strict penalties for all backyard and puppy mill breeders, as well as irresponsible owners who don’t spay or neuter their pets and have accidental litters.No pet animal should ever be produced strictly to make money, with no concern for the welfare of the animals.Animals are not just a commodity.There are simply too many unwanted animals being born everyday in this country to be sustainable.If breeding is restricted to those who breed for the improvement of the breed physically and temperamentally, we would still have plenty of pet-quality animals available, but all the money that currently goes to support animal shelters could be put to another use.I totally support animal welfare groups, and have had many rescued pets myself, but most of us wish there was not the need for rescues and shelters that we see these days.There is no question in my mind that puppy mills should be banned.Let the puppy millers start real businesses or get real jobs instead of profiting from the suffering of the animals unfortunate enough to be in their care.
