More fall-out from rush to pass stimulus bill

Once more we see more fallout from the the ill-advised rush to produce a so-called stimulus bill.

When Congressman Russ Carnahan gave his “state of the District address” at the Affton firehouse, it was clear that he was absolutely clueless. He read a text that he obviously had not written, and apparently had never bothered to read. He was unable to answer any questions coherently, and the entire theme of his talk was that we might not know what we’re doing, but we’d better do it fast.

During Mr. Carnahan’s speech in Affton, one could actually see Nancy Pelosi’s lips moving and could marvel at how she manipulated his strings.

Now Carnahan rushes to the microphone to get in line to decry the evil AIG management that paid out bonuses, and to cosponsor a bill to try to impose a 90% tax on them. The problem is, he voted for the provision in a bill that just had to be rushed through before the public could get wind of what it conatained.

Senator Chris Dodd, who inserted the language specifically allowing the bonus payments (and the biggest recipient of AIG campaign funds, slightly ahead of Barack Obama), first denied knowledge of the provision, then claimed that he never understood that it would actually allow for AIG bonus payments. Treasury Secretary Geithner, who claims to have known nothing before this week, suddenly appears on video tape answering comnittee questions about the upcoming payments nearly three weeks ago.

These actions represent everything that many Americans find reprehensible about Congress and the government in general.

We in Missouri can do nothing about Mr. Dodd. Maybe the good citizens of Connecticut will fire him when he runs for a sixth term next year. In the meantime, we have the opportunity to throw Mr. Carnahan out on the curb next year. We should not miss the chance to do so.

The maker pf puke who though does recycle and use it for brains.

Yes I know the market dropped after Obama took over and I know it is almost back to the starting point. You seem to want to only count from Obama taking over, that allows you to be able to ignore the 6,000 point drop in 18 months under Bush.

I suggest you move to Kansas they also wish to ignore science, I hear they have just started debating whether it is feasible to have powered air flight. So far they are siding with the idea that man will never fly.

Once again if you do not want abortions, then you could start by stopping the conservatives from getting them, that would be a dramatic drop.

Once again on the earmarks, we would have a lot fewer if the conservatives would stop putting in earmarks then complaining about the earmarks.

I would say that the conservatives are pathetic, but then you guys are just to funny. You do a lot for the nation in these times by keeping our moral up as we laugh at you.

Bob, do you know of a family of 4 living on $27K a year without additional assistance?

Bob,

I believe if we have a single wage earner trying to support a family of 4 on minimum wage then no amount of taxes is going to help that scenario. However we’ll go with your family of 4. Now a another working guy who happens to have worked hard and started his own business, let’s say he’s an electrical contractor. He hires union and he puts in 50, 60 or more hours a week to make his business work. I believe most people reading this would agree that taking from the electrical contractor to give to the guy who for some reason can’t find a job above minimum wage is not what the Gov’t should be doing. The issue is (and my bad for posing the question) not how much can the minimum wage earner pay. But how do you justify taking (after Fed, state, social security, FICA, and all other taxes) 50% of what the guy earns? That is the real question I should have asked.

“You do a lot for the nation in these times by keeping our moral up as we laugh at you.”

It’s not fun either, is it Bob? We heard it for almost 8 damn years from you liberals. You aholes blew everything out of proportion. Called our troops murders, while they were protecting this country. Well they were cleared at a Courts Martial. Your buddy Reid saying the war is lost, while troops in harms way. Great fu**ing choice of words. Blowing Abu Ghrab (sp) out of proportion with daily front page stories from the Obama New York Times. That caused more of our troops to die.

No thanks Bob, Tiller the baby killer is from Kansas, and he needs to go to jail for a long long time. Google his name, find out how many partial birth abortions he has performed.

Get a freakin’ clue, before we go the way of the Roman Empire. Your as sick as STL.

First I will use a term that a good conservative used on me once, Life is Not Fair.

Now Let us say your electric contractor makes $100,000 with a family of 4 and the other person makes $27,000 with a family of 4. By the way I am not even saying it is one person in the family of 4 working. If you have 2 wage earners making minimum wage they will make just a bit more than $27000 on 2000 hours of work each.

Lets put the flat tax in and they each pay 15%. The contractor pays $15,000 and the lower income family pays $3050. Now you should be happy they each paid the same percentage.

However, now the lower income family is $3050 short of enough money to buy the minimum needs. once again we are not talking about buying a TV or cable or a cell phone etc. So now, do you tell them to bad? Do you tell them to not eat for a month? Perhaps you point out several nice park benches that they can sleep on.

Do you do any of the above? Or do you provide help for the minimum needs? If so what have you gained by taking $3050 in taxes if you provide $3050 in aid? In fact you increased the cost by first paying to collect the income and then paid to administer the aid.

So SOCO what do you do?

So you are saying that you are doing what we did for 8 years?

So you say you are blowing things out of proportion. Interesting.

Who said Ried was my friend, are you making an a** out of U, By assuming?

I did not see anyone calling the troops murders from the liberal side. I saw plenty of conservatives claiming we did. Most of that was based on Murtha in an interview talking about confusing rules of engagement that sometimes have our troops going further than they should. However, even there Murtha was not talking about the troops actions but rather that the Bush administration was giving confusing orders that kept them from knowing what action to take.

My oh my the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire lasted almost a thousand years. So you do not want the US to last at least 1000 years?

Get a clue maybe you can update your think to at least 1900.

No, we are not blowing things out of proportion or bitching about the same things you libs were and still are. Just look at the stock market and unemployment, and the inflation is coming. Good ole Jimmy Carter days times 10.

Jack Murtha called our troops murderers, or have you forgotten? Yep, twist his words, like you twist others. Your good at it.

Yes Bob, the Roman Empire. This country won’t last that long with liberals in charge of anything, taxing everyone to death that will actually go out and work.

Come on Bob, how can 25% support the other 75%?

Here is Murtha http://abcnews.go.com/ThisWeek/story?id=2013939.

Tell me now, his statement “”worse than Abu Ghraib,” calling their actions war crimes committed “in cold blood”. You don’t wound in cold blood or hurt in cold blood. You freakin’ murder in cold blood. Now stop twisting what that ass Murtha said.

Bob:

Are you sub-contracting your responses out to SPP6118 and STL? Your harangues have gone from unreasonably loony to irrational cuckoo. Thank you for not using Tim Hogan and llbean for this purpose, like you, we tire of their thoughtless repetition.

Here is another statement from the same article, since you probably won’t read it.

“”I will not excuse murder and that what’s happened,” Murtha told ABC News chief Washington correspondent George Stephanopoulos. “This investigation should have been over two or three weeks after the incident.”

Now Bob, stop your damn lies.
