More fall-out from rush to pass stimulus bill

Once more we see more fallout from the the ill-advised rush to produce a so-called stimulus bill.

When Congressman Russ Carnahan gave his “state of the District address” at the Affton firehouse, it was clear that he was absolutely clueless. He read a text that he obviously had not written, and apparently had never bothered to read. He was unable to answer any questions coherently, and the entire theme of his talk was that we might not know what we’re doing, but we’d better do it fast.

During Mr. Carnahan’s speech in Affton, one could actually see Nancy Pelosi’s lips moving and could marvel at how she manipulated his strings.

Now Carnahan rushes to the microphone to get in line to decry the evil AIG management that paid out bonuses, and to cosponsor a bill to try to impose a 90% tax on them. The problem is, he voted for the provision in a bill that just had to be rushed through before the public could get wind of what it conatained.

Senator Chris Dodd, who inserted the language specifically allowing the bonus payments (and the biggest recipient of AIG campaign funds, slightly ahead of Barack Obama), first denied knowledge of the provision, then claimed that he never understood that it would actually allow for AIG bonus payments. Treasury Secretary Geithner, who claims to have known nothing before this week, suddenly appears on video tape answering comnittee questions about the upcoming payments nearly three weeks ago.

These actions represent everything that many Americans find reprehensible about Congress and the government in general.

We in Missouri can do nothing about Mr. Dodd. Maybe the good citizens of Connecticut will fire him when he runs for a sixth term next year. In the meantime, we have the opportunity to throw Mr. Carnahan out on the curb next year. We should not miss the chance to do so.

Sage,

AMEN! Without a doubt some of these as you pointed out are certifiable nuts. I think Bob needs to find a job. He is beginning to sound just like them.

Those people are as objective as Hitler was. Come to speak of it, did you notice the comparisons they have been making with Hitler and his followers? It really is quite unbelievable. As I always have said, it’s like leading the sheep to the slaughter. Whats worse it that many of them start running for the slaughter without help. Amazing!

When hyperinflation hits, it won’t matter if you are a Democrat or Republican, because a real depression is coming within a year, and it’s going to be a real life “Lord of the Flies” scenario. I laugh at the people who think we are in a “depression” right now. Listen, when you can drive by countless restaurants on a Monday night and there isn’t one available parking space…we aren’t in a depression.
However, when the depression really begins due to reckless spending by Congress and Obama, it will be amusing to see unprepared, desperate and broke Obama worshipers lining up in front of the White House singing “Yes, Yes, Yes, we can…Yes, Yes, Yes, we can!” like sad little robots begging for a handout :)
Let’s face it, the majority of Liberals got caught up in the emotion and rhetoric of the Teleprompter Talisman - he’s no savior, just a pathetic Community Organizer who hasn’t run a business or created wealth in any way shape or form in his 48 years on earth. What a sad, skinny little man :)

Are you prepared for the coming storm? I am :)

Gaucho

I would say the majority of conservatives are ready for the Obama depression. Only those that are blind cannot see it coming. Yes we can, yes we can. Yeah, right.

So you level headed conservatives are not blowing the whole thing out of proportion. Yet you want to look at the unemployment since Obama came into office but ignore the unemployment that occurred prior to that. You want to look at the 1700 point drop since Obama came to office, of which 1000 have been recovered. Yet you wish to ignore the 6000 points lost under Bush, which none were recovered.

I read the article, and he said they might have killed some civilians. May I also point out that since that article was published several marines have been convicted by the military for killing the civilians. So are you saying the military is lying?

Where are you getting 25% from? I paid taxes last year and I am not in the top 25% for last year.

So magnum stop ignoring the truth and perhaps move your knowledge up to at least 1850’s.

Nice link, except Pew has Obama at 59% and Gallop has him at 61%. They also show most of not all of his loss was among conservatives. Who were kicked out of office by the rest of the country.

Even for you you are lower than low when you start comparing people to Hitler. Yes compare people to Hitler then go crying because the press did not treat Palin like the way you wish. Yes superdave be objective by calling people Facist. Of course Hitler is placed on the right wing of the political spectrum.

The crying superdave oh let me call people names but better not pick on my candidate other wise I will call foul and cry some more.

Nope I just decided that I have had it with the loopie right wing who cry and cry oh our candidate was not treated fair, meanwhile I will call the President a Kenyan, I will call the left followers of Hitler and I will refer to people with other views as sheep.

I have had enough of you right wing loop jobs, if left to you the nation would be driven into the ground.
