More fall-out from rush to pass stimulus bill
Once more we see more fallout from the the ill-advised rush to produce a so-called stimulus bill.
When Congressman Russ Carnahan gave his “state of the District address” at the Affton firehouse, it was clear that he was absolutely clueless. He read a text that he obviously had not written, and apparently had never bothered to read. He was unable to answer any questions coherently, and the entire theme of his talk was that we might not know what we’re doing, but we’d better do it fast.
During Mr. Carnahan’s speech in Affton, one could actually see Nancy Pelosi’s lips moving and could marvel at how she manipulated his strings.
Now Carnahan rushes to the microphone to get in line to decry the evil AIG management that paid out bonuses, and to cosponsor a bill to try to impose a 90% tax on them. The problem is, he voted for the provision in a bill that just had to be rushed through before the public could get wind of what it conatained.
Senator Chris Dodd, who inserted the language specifically allowing the bonus payments (and the biggest recipient of AIG campaign funds, slightly ahead of Barack Obama), first denied knowledge of the provision, then claimed that he never understood that it would actually allow for AIG bonus payments. Treasury Secretary Geithner, who claims to have known nothing before this week, suddenly appears on video tape answering comnittee questions about the upcoming payments nearly three weeks ago.
These actions represent everything that many Americans find reprehensible about Congress and the government in general.
We in Missouri can do nothing about Mr. Dodd. Maybe the good citizens of Connecticut will fire him when he runs for a sixth term next year. In the meantime, we have the opportunity to throw Mr. Carnahan out on the curb next year. We should not miss the chance to do so.

.
Fact is Marionette George W Bush and Manipulator Dick Cheney, aka M&M, cherry picked “intelligence” pumped it up with innuendos and lies to justify attacking a sovereign nation absolutely no threat to our country. 4000+ American lives, 30,000+ American wounded, ?00,000’s of Iraq killed and wounded, Iraq in rubble, and about $1.5Trillion later we still haven’t won anything, rather we’ve lost big time.
.
And now and because the M&M cowboys governed in anger, we’ve had to pump it up in Afghanistan where our real enemies were all along, those enemies that killed 3,000 on 9-11. As a bonus the M&M’s folly in Iraq created a terrorist breeding ground and a uniting cause for them against us.
.
Along the way M&M decided we no longer needed to abide by the Geneva convention. As a result, the whole world was shocked at how the policies of the M&M led directly to our shameful conduct at Abu Ghraib and Gitmo.
.
This unnecessary war has almost bankrupt our country and certainly is a huge contributor to the trashed economy Obama inherited.
.
I can’t for the life of me rationalize why you would not want Obama to get this country out of the economic mess created in part by the unnecessary Iraq war.
Bob
I know you didn’t read the article. It is in BLACK AND WHITE about Murtha.
We are only speaking of his statement about Haditha. Now read it and stop YOUR LIES!!!!!
You brought up the 25%, not me. You still won’t answer. I will try again.
How can 25% of the hghest paid citizens of the USA support the other 75%?
Now Bob, answer without twisting.
So how come the troops aren’t home by now from Iraq then?
Look you can validly argued that the US shouldn’t have put boots on the ground in Iraq, but you have to remember that BOTH parties voted en masse to give Bush authority to do so.
How much blame do dems receive for Iraq since without their approval, we would have never been there?

Talk about not reading, SoCo brought up 25% has a hypothetical number. He was not calling it a actual number and I understood that we were using it for the sake of argument because I read his posting.
Seems that someone on the right needs to learn how to read.
Now magnum this is what he said
Murtha “”This Week with George Stephanopoulos” in an exclusive appearance that reports a group of U.S. Marines may have killed 24 Iraqi civilians following an IED explosion in Haditha, Iraq, was “worse than Abu Ghraib,” calling their actions war crimes committed “in cold blood.”"
later Murtha “”I will not excuse murder and that what’s happened,” Murtha told ABC News chief Washington correspondent George Stephanopoulos. “This investigation should have been over two or three weeks after the incident.”"
John Warner “There is this question of what happened, when did it happen and what was the reaction of the Marine Corps when it happened?”"
THE MARINES IN THEIR INVESTIGATION CHARGED ALMOST ALL OTHER MARINES WITH CRIMES, THEY CONVICTED SEVERAL INCLUDING THE RANKING NCO.
The Marines agreed that it was Murder.
Bob
Don’t know where you get your info from, this link is dated March 18, 2009.
5 dismissed, 2 not guilty with 2 cases remaining.

Ok Bob
Now admit you are WRONG. John Murtha called the Marines murderers WITHOUT proof.
This has nothing to do with the fallout, but if the media would stick to being war correspondants instead of antiwar activists, these issues would not come up. Especially for our brothers in arms,,,,,innocent until proven guilty.
Bob:
“Nope I just decided that I have had it with the loopie right wing who cry and cry oh our candidate was not treated fair, meanwhile I will call the President a Kenyan, I will call the left followers of Hitler and I will refer to people with other views as sheep.
I have had enough of you right wing loop jobs, if left to you the nation would be driven into the ground.”
Calling the President a Kenyan is like calling Bush a Texan. What is so upsetting about either? If you are overcome with a need to right all wrongs, get yourself some blue tights, a red cape and a phone booth to change in, (if you can find one) then flit from pillar to post fighting evil to defend your opinion of truth, justice and the American way.
I have not used the term “sheep” but reflecting on Obama’s course for our country, to the cliff and over, lemmings might be more appropriate for his supporters.
Thanks to you repubs, we are in this mess. Some of you who are posting, states that this mess started in Sept - December of 2008, when the democrats took over congress. How asinine that in a matter of 6-7 months our economy is blown way out of porportions. The republican congress and all of you who supported them must live in glass houses. I have never seen so many people lie, deny, and subvert the truth just because they are of a pretty peculiar party. I think the economy tanked under the republicans and if you lost your job, your house and will have to use all of your savings to live, then the chickens have came home to roost. Ha.

It started in January 07, when the dems took control of congress. Do your homework.
