Enough already with the Clooney sightings as a front page story. Why don’t we just hang up a banner that says, “Welcome to Hoosierville”?

Because “Hoosier” as a deregatory is a St Louis thing. It would not make sense to someone from the outside. They would wonder why St Louis thought it was in Indiana.
Thus, if the only people who would understand it are people from St Louis…well, there is no need to welcome people to their own town now, is there?
