Billingsly twisted logic fails to inform

Z. Dwight Billingsly’s latest tirade against Barack Obama meets his usual measure of underwhelming logic. But then his judgment is always so clouded by ultra right wing ideology and has been so utterly devoid of common sense for so many years that no self-respecting parakeet would use his space in the newspaper as a target for its special brand of waste-product.

He continues his near-solo march against the concept of global warming even though it flies in the face of the preponderance of scientific evidence and is embraced by the vast majority of the world’s best scientific minds. While I’m sure Mr. Billingsly finds this to be “an inconvenient truth”, this is the stuff Nobel Prizes have been awarded for.

Billingsly’s astounding train of thought concludes that the Democrats are responsible for today’s financial crisis while totally ignoring the fact that George W. Bush inherited the greatest budget surplus in the country’s history and spent us into the greatest deficit in history within the span of seven years. He also led us into a totally unnecessary war most conservative estimates suggest will cost this country upwards of two trillion dollars before it is over. What do you suppose the mere debt service on this money would do for us if it were floating around in our economy right now?

America has been led by Republican presidents for 20 of the last 28 years and now the concept of “trickle down” economics (something the first President Bush referred to as “voodoo economics”) has hopefully met a merciful death.

Billingsly’s statement that “we aren’t really comfortable with class warfare” doesn’t really complete the conservative thought process on the subject. It should really read, “we aren’t really comfortable with class warfare unless it lines the pockets of the wealthy and pushes the poor and the middleclass further down the economic scale. Then class warfare makes perfect sense to us.”

And then he has the stupidity to invoke the name of Sarah Palin as the patron saint of the Republican Party in his column; this from a would-be presidential candidate who has the lack of judgment to publicly engage in a battle of wits with the 18 year old father of her grandson whom she used as a prop in her campaign to be a heart-beat away from the Oval Office.

It was Voltaire who said, “I disapprove of what you say but I will defend to my death your right to say it.” In Billingsly’s particular case, I would have to think long and hard before I would exchange something so valuable for something so utterly valueless.

For you liberals, there is nothing worse than a Conservative black guy! Hey Bill, how much control did you have over your 17 year old daughter? Were you lucky because she didnt end up pregnant. We as parents, always wish we had total control but that’s a fantasy. I assure you that if this would have happened to a Liberal you would be all over Conservatives if they said the same thing. I’m thankful that she didnt get an abortion because it was inconvenient. Why kill the kid over a mistake in the back seat?

Bill Davis,

Thank you for a well written letter that I totally agree with and appreciate reading your valuable comments. Thanks for sharing!

D. Dwight Billingsly is a disgrace to the African American Race just like his buddy Clarence Thomas of our US Supreme Court. Dwight is so full of himself without an ounce of empathy. His arrogant pompous a*s mentality and narrow minded views are so out of touch with the real world.

I force myself to read his column once in a while, but always feel the same way when finished. Another Black OR White thinker with no real substance that stands for nothing but priviledge, arrogance, and being critical of anyone that does not view life through the same rose colored glasses. He is a few notches below Rush but ranks in the top 90% in arrogance. Billingsly and Colleen Carroll are editorials I usually avoid.
Colleen Carroll never tires of her Catholic Agenda and Pro-Life views every other week.

…for taking so much flak, he must be right over the target-area. Bill Davis-the venom with which you espouse leftist talking-points has me concerned for your welfare. The inability to see the truth of the matter is generally diagnosed as “blind ideology”. In your case I would prescribe blocking MSNBC from your television and reading HUMAN EVENTS regularly. All hope is not lost.

Bill Davis—WOW, feel better? Hope you can finish your constitutional now…let ME pontificate. Since you are so wise, maybe you will see the TRUTH when you read it. “He continues his near-solo march against the concept of global warming even though it flies in the face of the preponderance of scientific evidence and is embraced by the vast majority of the world’s best scientific minds.” Funny, leading edge of scientific thought on this topic is leaning towards oncoming global cooling. You need to update your talking-points. “Billingsly’s astounding train of thought concludes that the Democrats are responsible for today’s financial crisis while totally ignoring the fact that George W. Bush inherited the greatest budget surplus in the country’s history and spent us into the greatest deficit in history within the span of seven years.” More debunked talking-points…read Thomas Sowell on who planted seeds of economic demise. “He also led us into a totally unnecessary war ” I think opening a front against radical Islam in their sphere-of-influence was the best thing that came out of GWB’s administration. After pantomimes of support for decades to allies in region, GWB finally DID the right thing instead of just talking about it.[WJC.] ” presidential candidate who has the lack of judgment to publicly engage in a battle of wits with the 18 year old father of her grandson whom she used as a prop in her campaign to be a heart-beat away from the Oval Office.” Sarah Palin’s response to a half-witted father of her grandson is not a topic for political discussion. It reveals your despair and desperational lack of data to make a point. Why not go after her mentally-impaired son, her fondness for red-meat, her affinity for colloquialisms, all standard fare for “political pundits’ from the left. Wake up America, this is what leftists do, “divide and conquer”, right out of THE COMMUNIST MANIFESTO.

DEBRA—You should try reading things that challenge your status-quo, that is what makes for an enlightened individual. If you only read those you agree with, you can’t expand your thought. First thing every morning for me is NY TIMES, followed by LA TIMES, DAILY BEAST, and DAILY K-OS; THEN I go to WALL ST JOURNAL, DRUDGE, HUMAN EVENT-updates, and finally POST-DISGRACE, all before you awake and get out of bed, I’m sure. The fact that you are so bothered by his articles tells me he must be right-on-point.

Dr.DeBunk,

After you read all those papers every day do you still have your narrow minded conservative views? Or do you convert after reading a more liberal commentator?

I do not have the time to read that many newspapers, do love the PD and read Newsweek magazine. I have forced my self to watch Fox News on occassion tuned into Rush on the radio and exposed myself to the other side. Remain a true blue and do not see myself changing anytime soon. I am a middle aged Mother with 3 kids that keep me busy. Love politics and I am very concerned with issues and the well being of our great Country.
My children are my first priority and I care about the world they will live in after we are all gone.

Sorry but Dwight is NOT right on point in my opinion nor do I care when you get out of bed. That does not make you smarter than me or better than me in anyway way shape or form. Your arrogance is showing again. Gold Star for you for getting up early. My 66 year old Father goes to bed early and is up at 5:00 am. everyday. We will never agree politically and you and your opinions are not any better than mine. Get over yourself!
You sound so much like Icon Sage, Amazedbythelunacy, or Logicprevails.

DEBRA—

After you read all those papers every day do you still have your narrow minded conservative views? Or do you convert after reading a more liberal commentator?

I do not have the time to read that many newspapers, do love the PD and read Newsweek magazine. It is really simple, go on line before your crumb-crunchers get up and read what interests you . I don’t read everything, just the good stuff. Would also suggest web-sites such as GATEWAY PUNDIT and ATLAS SHRUGS, both beautifully prepared and footnoted. As for as your attempted dig about my “narrow-mind”, conversely since you are a leftist, does that make you narrow-minded as well. I predict you may see it differently. I have forgotten more in my lifetime than most people have ever known, so I doubt if you can classify me as narrow-minded. I read and listen to the “the other side” more than anything else precisely because to do so affirms what I really believe. Maybe I am superior in intellect than most, but the upbringing my parents instilled in me made me want to be the best I can be. Talent can only take you so far, the rest is hard work, dedication and discipline. Good Luck, my thoughts are with you.

Debra is a kool-aid drinker. She has an extremely narrow view of the world. She represents the least of us in our society.

DR.DE-BUNK,

Or should I say Bud1969. I caught your trickery because you used the term de-bunking in your post under Bud1969 quite often.

Your last response contained one sentence that I could not let go.

Maybe I am superior in intellect than most, but the upbringing my parents instilled in me made me want to be the best I can be.

More arrogance, and now your parents are better than my parents are. Yeah my parents taught me to be lazy, with no ambition, to just exist and wait for a handout.

Superior intellect? How many degrees do you have? How many ivy league schools have you attended? Are you super wealthy because you are so superior than the rest of us. Get over yourself bud1969!

My thoughts are with your HUGE HEAD that has difficulty fitting through doorways.

OGNIB,

I do not drink Koolaid or any other drink that contains sugar. Never drink your calories, eat them, has always been my phlosiophy. I do not let my kids drink koolaid either.

The least of us in society, why did Obama just win the White House by a landslide if we are the least?
