Sure, America has a lot for which to apologize
Yes, America has much to apologize for. I mean after all, our entry into World War I sooner could have helped defeat the Germans and ended the war earlier than it was. So I guess we owe the Europeans an apology for delaying our entry into the war.
The same goes for World War II. Yep, we should have entered the war far sooner than we did after the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Had we not delayed so long, the Nazis may not have committed as many atrocities, Great Britain and France, and all those other countries over there would not have suffered as much under the Nazi occupation. Once again, we owe the Europeans an apology.
And the Marshal Plan and post-World War II occupation ? You guessed it, we owe an apology to the Europeans for that. We helped rebuild a shattered Europe and restored economic strength and vibrancy to the German people. But the Soviets took control of Eastern Europe and held sway over those countries for half a century. Regardless of the fact that we kept U.S. troops stationed on the front lines of the Cold War and staved off Soviet expansion, thereby providing Western European countries safety and security to grow their economic prosperity. It’s our fault that we didn’t prevent the Soviet take-over of Eastern Europe. So we owe Europe another apology.
When the western sectors of the divided city of Berlin were isolated, cut off and threatened by the Soviets, the Berlin Airlift kept the Berliners alive and free. But nearly twenty years later we did not prevent the Soviets and their East German lackeys from constructing the Berlin Wall, separating the city and families, and enslaving the entire population of East Berlin. Again, our fault for not preventing the Soviets from erecting this scar across the German countryside. Though the U.S. Army’s Berlin Brigade kept the Soviets from completing the subjugation of the entire city, we owe Europe an apology.
And freeing the entire population of Iraq from the brutal dictatorship of Saddam Hussein, and helping to lift the tyranny of the Taliban from the people of Afghanistan ? Our politicians and their willing allies in Hollywood and the mainstream news media expended so much energy to sabotage our efforts in the struggle against Islamic terrorism, therefore preventing and end to hostilities and a successful rebuilding of these two nations, so we also owe the people of the Middle East an apology.
And on and on and on. The blood sweat and tears that America has shed over the years to help countless countries around the world just hasn’t been enough. So we owe the whole world an apology. We should have done so much more.
So I guess you can say I’m so thankful that our new President Barack Obama has stepped forward during his visit overseas to express apologies on behalf of the American people to all of our friends(?) and enemies. I’m sure they will appreciate his sincerity and view it as an example of the strength of America. And since we owe apologies for the shortcomings of all our previous efforts over the years, President Barack Obama has been able to begin the atonement on behalf of the United states.
They say confession is good for the soul. Don’t you all feel better now that President Obama has apologized for our arrogance, divisiveness, and the derision that we have shown over the years in rebuilding, protecting, and freeing countries around the world ?

The continued liberal, Blame America First, is running rampant with this administration.
If the President’s European vacation last week is any indicator, we’re in for a long and potentially disastrous four years. I sort of understand what Pres Obama is trying to accomplish with all this genuflection and soul searching, but the overwhelming response from Europe and the rest of the world so far is to laugh at him.
The list of people wanting apoligies just keeps growing, Castro, Chavez, Il, Ahmanutjob….
Will Obama appease all of them?
Mr Wilber–
Did you read or watch the whole speech, or just the part that Hannity showed you ?
I heard that in response to North Korea’s ICBM test, the president issued a strongly worded apology.
Obama is only trying to repair our standing in the world and attempt to mend the damage Dubya, Cheney, and Rumsfelf created. You neocons hate the fact that he is popular around the world, raised more money than republicans, and still has a high approval rating. Get over yourselfs!
Real popular around the world. Laugher

Debra: Do you think we have a lot to apologize for? Do you think Obama actually believes that, or is he being dishonest just to be liked? We took our 78 year old widow neighbor to dinner last night, she lost two of her four brothers in WW II fighting in Europe, and she wondered why we were apologizing to them. She thought we saved their nations.
Really loved by the world.

In the long list of spectacularly wrong and mindless political catch phrases, “repair our standing in the world” ranks way down there with “We have achieved peace in our time” and “Let them eat cake”.
