Another way to honor veterans is to get involved

Since we have just observed Memorial Day, a day to remember all of the men & women who have fought for our freedom, it is a good time to inform readers of the efforts of a local veterans organization to erect a statue in memory of the fighting GI’s of World War II. The Gateway Chapter of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge (the bloodiest battle ever fought by American armed forces) is in the process of having a statue of a World War II GI erected in Jefferson Barracks National Park. This would be the only World War II GI Statue in the St. Louis area.
The World War II veterans are dwindling quickly and their time to raise money for this statue is limited. Anyone who has a question or would like to make a donation may contact the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge, Gateway Chapter, P. O. Box 6503, St. Louis, MO 6125, Attention David B. Schroeder.
Another option would be to attend one of the chapter meetings. They are held at 1:00 p.m.on the second Tuesday of each month at the Affton Elks Lodge, 6330 Heege Rd. Stop by and talk to some of the veterans. Each one has an interesting story to tell about his experience during the War.

Thank you for your work on behalf of veterans, of which, I am one.
I donate my dollars towards The Fisher House, which is now being built at Jefferson Barracks. The Fisher House, is a Ronald McDonalds type house for our hero, wounded warriors and their families.

Anyone wishing to donate, please do so. These guys and gals deserve it.
