Higher gas prices: Change you can believe in

When President Bush was in office rising gas prices were attributed to Bush keeping his friends happy according to many critics. So what is it called now that Obama is President, change we can believe in?

I think it’s called the usual jump at Memorial Day/start of vacation season, just like it always does.

Obama is a demecrat socialsist dog. He want’s to take all the money from the guys that own all the oil and spread it around. Obama will keep working at raising the gas price until it reachs the level it was under Bush. Cheney/Palin will lead our coutry next time around and we all will be just fine then.

first of all gas prices have risen, but not as meteorically as they did in 2007-2008.

And I don’t think the rising gas prices were due to Bush’s “helping his buddies out”, but despite the President stating we were “addicted to oil” the U.S. didn’t move towards energy independence under his administration. So any sharp spike in gas prices left us with few other options. At least under the new administration there will be focus on upgrading Amtrak, public transportation, alternative fuels, etc.

skahtt,
You are correct. President Bush didn’t cause $4.00 gas, but he got blamed for it and the left went head hunting for him. Now that gas is being artificially manipulated, again, where is the left screaming for Obama’s accountability??? As far a energy independence, as long as we have untapped resources in the ground that we can safely extract but aren’t allowed due to the narrow minded Obama administration’s energy policy, we will never be independent.

budb….

I believe your claim that Obama gets a free pass does not hold up to scrutiny. At this time last year Gas averaged $3.11 across the US. So while Gas has risen it is still 80 cents below the price of last year.

Bob,
The problem I have with your statement is oil was over $125 per barrel at this time last year. $3.00 was appropriate due to the price of oil. Not the case this year. President Obama is on record last year saying he was fine with 4.00 gas, he just wished it didn’t get to 4.00 so quickly. Bush was crucified over this issue and it’s a non issue with Obama.

Bud1969,

Gas is now $3.11/gallon and last year at this time was $4.00/gallon.

It always goes up at this time of the year. I hold Cheney accountable not Bush. His closed door energy policy that the American People were not privy to back in his first term was the beginning of the end for us consumers. I believe Cheney and his personal stock portfolio in Haliburton and Exxon/Mobil was the driving factor. He left office a much richer man than when he began.

The true picture will come to light when Exxon/Mobil releases it’s profits/earnings since Obama took office. We will see if they still reap in RECORD profits like they have done in 2008.

Time will tell who is right!

Gas and oil prices are rising because we got us a Texas oilman in the White House!!! Them big oil companies know they can raise prices because they got a friend in the White House, along with their Repugnicant friends that controls the House and Senate. Yeeeeehhhaaawwwwww!!

A lot of conservatives are just throwing anything they can at Obama to see what sticks. They keep saying that Democrats “never gave Bush a chance”, which is ludicrous. Sure, a few ultra-partisans opposed him from the get-go (and the contested 2000 election was part of the reason) but most Americans approved of President Bush at one time and gave him a chance to prove himself as their Commander in Chief. It was only after several years of inept performance that 68% of the public eventually soured on his presidency.

Conservatives thought that even though Obama won with 53% of the vote that there would be immediate buyer’s remorse and are now just pouting that most Americans are done with the partisan rancor that accompanies an election and want to give Barack Obama a chance.

Maybe if the GOP would sit back and play the part of a RESPONSIBLE opposition party people would take them seriously. But yelling “Socialist, fake birth certificate, kool-aid” etc. is going to cause most folks to tune you guys out.
