Standing up for responsibility and tough decisions

In response to the article Insurance vs. Ideology, I would like to point out a few things. Take a look at what government involvement in our healthcare system has done, the endless regulation and paperwork have caused prices to skyrocket and it is the consumer who gets the crunch. In the Democratic stimulus bill Missouri received money to basically add more people to its dependency rolls on Medicare and Medicaid. This will cause Missouri to have to raise taxes later to keep those who remain dependant paid for. Considering Obama took away welfare reform, this could cost Missouri taxpayers more over time. The Republicans in our Missouri Congress are not saying no to childrens’ healthcare, they are saying yes to lower taxes and less government control over our lives.

Dependency on government programs causes apathy and misery, keeping the poor in a complacent lifestyle. Once dependant on a program, there are limits on how much one can earn or have in assets which creates a necessity to do less for oneself and the family in order to keep the benefits. It is a shame that Democrats realize the voting block they can create by lulling more Missourians into dependency. We are now in an economic recession similar to the one during the Carter years, and it was hard for Missourians to find work and take care of their families’ medical needs, but we survived and became stronger by not depending on the government to take care of us. By not allowing Americans and Missourians to make tough choices for themselves, we will never grow and we will end up with a government rationed system that leaves the elderly behind. Republicans in Missouri are trying to challenge its citizens to go through the tough times and become better and stronger as families, and help Missouri defend the over-reaching power of the federal government. This will teach people to save, not overspend and consider how many children one can afford before having more. The Democrats are trying to create a government dependant America and that will lead to socialism and a loss of freedom for all. Responsibility is tough but it sure beats socialism.

I’m glad the Republicans in Missouri are standing up for those of us who don’t want to be responsible for others children. Taking this difficult stance makes the liberal crowd call us names and deem us racist, when in fact, it is the government dependency policies that Democrats and liberals tout the virtues of, that are creating a whole class of people that will continue to struggle under the government’s thumb. It is their utopian ideology that disguises socialism and will lead this nation into apathy and dependence, then eventually tyranny. In the mean time our Democrat controlled federal government will gobble up more money through taxes to pay for it, and as they do this, they create more power and benefits for themselves. Why do we pay for their superior healthcare? Why do we pay for their lifetime pensions? This is not the Missouri I want to live in and I’ll take the “Ideology” of freedom and hard work, through good times and bad over any state dependent apathetic lifestyle.

A well presented letter. One point I would like to add, can we have all elected officials have their medical insurance changed to Medicaid and their retirement be social security? I bet they would fix those problems REAL fast.

Sarah
Without government then who will give me my stimulus check? Without the government I would have to get a job and work. Why don’t you try to stop working and let the government take care of you, you won’t be disappointed.

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in.

Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Give person a fish and you feed that person today. Teach that person to fish and you feed them for a lifetime.

This precept applies to each line you listed. Which is better for the person?

Juanita: I am going to have to give you credit for honesty. Not many libs would admit they disagree with the statement from Sarah’s letter you quote. You prefer a state dependent apathetic lifestyle.

HKCHAS, You seem to be another typical boomer with Peter Pan syndrome. If you had any integrity you would just state that, with your vote, that you don’t care about subsequent generations that will have to pay for your present “comfort.” You will be pushing daisies when these bills come due.

Government is too big. I shudder when I think of the behemoth it will be when my children come of age. But, no big deal to you right? You got yours.
