We need someone to bring honesty to Washington
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives states that the CIA lied to her, a member of congress. The CIA Director said that the CIA did not and does not lie to anyone. The House of Representatives refuses to investigate the direct contradiction. Where is someone-ANYONE- to force some honesty in government? I hope this isn’t the change the voters bought into.

Kind of like when the CIA lied to Rove and said Plame was an agent ?
I agree let’s investigate and let the chips fall where they may
There is a book called “At Dawn we Slept”.
The book concerns the investigation into the cause of Pearl Harbor disaster in 1941. It is written by one of the officers who was part of the investigation. About a third of the book is the officer praising himself, the rest is interesting.
The point is if we can hold an investigation into Pearl Harbor during WW II, then we should be able to stand up to an investigation into the entire intelligence process from the ramp up to Iraq through what it is like today.
If we had a intelligence break down or filtered it how can we fix a problem if we do not find out what was said, what should have been said, and what was misrepresented. This goes for both sides of the issue.
Bob,
Yes, At Dawn We Slept, a good read indeed! A little long, but worth it.
Pelosi is a buffoon and a national disgrace. Her own party is blocking an investigation. The republicans introduced a motion for same last week and it was slammed down on an almost party line vote. The republicans have and have had a lot of their own incompetent, corrupt politicians. When they are discovered they get rid of them. The democrats rallying around this clown tells us something.
Doubting–
Like Larry Craig ?
I don’t think EITHER party has done a very good job of cleaning house when corruption, vice, or greed was found in thier own ranks. But BOTH seem willing to call the other to task.
Dan,
Voters can bring about change every election, but I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you. Americans have elected dead people to office before, and also voted in or re-elected perverts, perjurers, thieves, liars, and all sorts of felons. It may be partly due to a sorry pool of candidates, but I don’t see a lot of good folks volunteering for these positions either.
That’s why limited government is best. The less power these fools have over the rest of us, the better off we are. Why anyone with an IQ above grapfruit would want to entrust their lives and livelihood to the same people who would sell their own mother for a campaign contribution is a mystery I will never understand.
As a bleeding heart liberal like you on the right like to call me, I must say that Queen Nancy is lying and is a thorn in the side of the dems.
I believe that she was briefed and knew all about torture/waterboarding and is now playing “dumb”.
Dan, I have to agree with you on this issue!
Debra: I find your condemnation of Pelosi encouraging.
Part of the problem IMO, is that no one with any real integrity wants to have to put up with the media distorting their past in order to gain a seat in Congress or even the White House. Jack Ryan was obliterated because his marital records were released…what the heck did that have to do with how he would fulfill a senate position??? Others have been pushed out because the media only wants to tell one side of the story. When journalists return to doing what they are supposed to do, telling facts, maybe more people would explore a political future. You couldn’t pay me enough to ever run for public office.
Until the public decides that they don’t like the way elections occur in this country, nothing will change.

The reason the Jack Ryan’s marital irregularities had anything to do with his campaign was simple. He and his party were at the time pushing the idea that they were the party and candidate of family values. Since that was one of their selling points it became a legitimate issue. If they are telling you that he holds that he is protecting family values then asking his wife to do kinky things with other men then are we only to listen to what he says or what he does?
It was like Gary Heart the Democrat that ran for President. He told the press he had nothing to hide and if they did not believe him they could follow him. So they did and they found him having a party with Donna Rice. So should the press only have taken Heart for his word?
