Our medical care shouldn’t be handled by someone looking for profits
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
I am somewhat confused, by his letter published on May 26th, as to why Edward Plitt would go to the post office for medical treatment. Seriously though, as one of the people that Mr. Plitt spoke of who favors a single payer health insurance system, I must say there are good reasons for such a health insurance system. U.S. citizens pay much more per person for our health care than any other industrialized country, yet the care we receive is ranked far behind many less industrialized countries. We also have many people not covered by health insurance, where as there are countries with single payer who insure all their people for less per person than we cover a portion. As for how treatment is administered, under single payer medical personnel could concentrate on the job for which they have been trained with out concern for a myriad of billing procedures and restrictions. This should enhance care rather than degrade it.
One other thing I believe is that our medical care should not be controlled by an entity which makes more profit by delaying or denying care to it’s customers. I believe it is more than some people who favor single payer system.

— we are screwed ”
On behalf of civilization, bravo, we are screwed, for a sophisticated and balanced analysis of health care as it relates to the socioeconomic problems of our time.
At first, I wasn’t sure I understood your point until I realized I was not quite sophisticated enough to understand it alone, but with some help from an econ prof and an MBA, I grasp its complex beauty! Beautiful! You are truly the Einstein of public policy!
my id
It does not take an Einstein, to figure out where this country is headed. If it took and MBA and an econ professor to explain it to you, your in a world of hurt, along with the rest of your liberal persuasion. Socialism here we come.
Looney doesn’t have any problems letting our wars be decided by someone seeking re-election.
Medicare, the publicly mananged plan for the elderly spends 5% of each health care dollar on administrative expenses, compared to 17% devourered by private insurers. Private companies spend billions on marketing, billions in exorbitant salaries to executives, and hundreds of billions peddled into profits and company reserves.
Is it any wonder the Corporate Republican Party loves this healthcare system?
Oh, did I mention an estimated 20,000 Americans die every year because they lack health insurance…
How many more sick children must die…pro-lifers?
Talk to me about your moral “high-road”.
Your Republican votes contributes to the destruction of human life.
Oh, did I mention an estimated 20,000 Americans die every year because they lack health insurance…
Any proof to this rumor….
“Medicare, the publicly mananged plan for the elderly spends 5% of each health care dollar on administrative expenses, compared to 17%”
Two things:
1) Medicare may only spend 5% on admin, but its still in the red. It spends money it does not have really well!
2) The only thing worse than medical care being handled by someone looking for profits is medical care being handled by someone looking for votes!
Just look at the actual numbers of the so called uninsured. I think the number is around 44 million. Now, how many of those young adults choose not to get coverage? How many children are SCHIP eligible but have moron parent who won’t enroll them? How may adult working families simply don’t get coverage they can afford? How many of the 44m are illeagl? The list goes on. I think we have somewhere between 10-12M who have legit needs. That is much more manageable than 44 million. Look it up libs.
My God! How many conservative Homer Simpsons are there?
Question: How many conservative Homer Simpsons are there?
Answer: About the same as the number of stupid liberals.
Its the ying/yang effect of political stupidity.
Amazed-
No rumor–
It’s a National Academy of Science Study, you can look it up. It’s pretty available on the net.
