Why is everyone silent on Congress’ outrageous spending?
I am amazed at the silence regarding Congress’ outrageous spending and fiscal management given their micromanagement of the private sector through executive compensation, taking over the auto industry, etc. How can the story on Congress voting an 8% increase in their expense budgets (after the “automatic” pay increase earlier this year) not get front page attention given the economy and the urgent need for fiscal restraint? With record deficits, record deficit spending and the incredible rate of printing money by our federal government how can they fathom increasing their compensation and expense budgets? There should be widespread condemnation to this continued recklessness, but based on the whisper of coverage the media apparently sees nothing wrong in Washington, D.C. essentially condoning this behavior from our elected officials. Why do we not freeze all increases in their wages and expenses until the deficit is under control, or heaven forbid we actually have a balanced budget? I find it appalling and highly hypocritical that Congress publicly demonizes private industry while thier behavior is equally if not more reprehensible. The only difference is Congress is spending OUR money! Why aren’t more people asking these questions and focusing on this issue? I don’t get it.

When you figure it out then let the rest of us know! Here comes the “it’s all President Bush’s fault and Clinton had a surplus” assault with no mention of the current admin’s antics.
Brian: If you don’t get it, you must not read the posts on this site very often. These libs realize that they will never be asked to pay to bill for this insane spending. They believe the “evil rich” will pay, or that their children and grandchildren will pay. They are the classic “me first” crowd and don’t even give a damn about their own offspring. If there is something in it for them, nothing else matters. Just don’t ask them to sacrifice a thing. Of course, their heroes are the dems in the administration and congress, so they worship them and don’t object to any increase in their wages or other compensation.
Brian—
—One simple solution…vote them ALL out, starting in 2010. Give holy hell to those you can’t. It works when you melt down the switchboards, as their MAIN concern is getting re-elected.
I heard this answer from a nine-year old product of liberal parents on TV the other day. She said the spending was an investment in her future. Poor little brainwashed child.
Brian, bottom line is the Democrats have all scattered like cockroaches when the lights are turned on. They have abandoned the blogs en masse.
The media is telling us nothing. They have all realized the corruption of the Obamanation and are embarrassed and sorry about their vote. They are all in complete denial.
Brian…were you in a coma from 1/20/2001–1/20/2009?? Where was your outrage then??
myomy… I can’t speak for Mr. Hill. However, the most liberal member of the Senate was just elected President and the Democrat social engineers solidified their majority in Congress because of voter outrage over federal spending 1/20/2001–1/20/2009.
The Republicans had their chance and blew it badly. Now, what are you partisans Democrats doing with your powers and political dominance?
Maybe someday partisans on both sides will realize you are being played for suckers in a good cop - bad cop charade.
The USA will be bankrupt by 2012, if not already.
For you liberals that keep bringing up the Bush Administration and the GOP representatives, we Conservatives were overly pissed. Why do you think the GOP lost in the last 2 elections? WE want NEW BLOOD! We Conservatives do not agree with any of those over-spending Republicans back then.
However, you liberals were complaining too which I find rather interesting since your side is making the deficits of Bush and the Republicans look like chicken feed. So, why aren’t you mad now? If it bothered you then then why arent you marching with us Conservatives about the over-spending by today’s Democrats and Obama?
As long as the main stream media continues to ignore the problem the uneducated, the ‘It’s too much trouble to go vote’ and the ‘As long as I get mine’ people will also continue to stick their head in the sand.
For myomy, look at the 2008 election results. It wasn’t just Republicans that gave George W a second term. He carried 31 states compared to Kerry’s 19. Consevatives didn’t like Bush in 2004 but he was a far better choice than John Kerry.
Sorry, should have been 2004 election results.
