America is back? Sorry, Hillary. America never went away

In a recent interview of Sec. Of State Clinton, she stated that her job was to let the world know “the United States is back.” The “United States is back?” Where did we go? It seems that the current administration’s foreign policy is to blame the previous administration and the United States themselves, for the ills of the world. Bashing the previous administration is fine when one is trying to win an election in one’s own nation; emphasizing the differences between yourself and your opponent. But it is unacceptable when representing the United States in foreign nations or in the presence of foreign heads of state. “Why?” I venture many of you ask. Because, the United States are bigger than any office, party, or person. Such a posture is not just holding one man responsible, but the country (its citizens, its politicians, its military) as a whole, for those decisions; decisions that, as a partisan political opponent one does not agree, but were still made and executed. It makes us weak and prevents us from negotiating from a position of confidence. I did not always agree with the Bush administration nor do I always agree with the current administration. I am, however, proud of my country, and regardless of party and I will always defend my country and, though I may vehemently disagree with her/his policies, my president. The current administration needs to remember they are not trying to win votes anymore and they represent and serve the citizens of the United States, not the members or platform of a political party or citizens of a foreign nation. Partisan politics ends with victory. We are Americans and for that we should not be ashamed but proud. We provide more humanitarian aid to foreign nations than any other country. We should not meet with foreign heads of state or their representatives with our heads low, looking at the ground, meekly apologizing for being Americans. We need to meet them with confidence; our backs straight, heads up and looking them right in the eye, ready to proudly proclaim our citizenship. God Bless America.

Matthew,

You gotta love Hillary. Obama bests Mrs C for the Democrat nomination for President, and she leaps at his offer to be Secretary of State. Unfortunately, the smartest woman in the world got duped as Obama has her off chasing rainbows while he uses “special envoys” to do the real diplomatic work. Even Bubba saw that one coming.

I believe her statements are more “Hey, look at me, I’m still important”, than anything about the country. Maybe she should just have bowed out gracefully and baked those cookies for Bill. If she could find him.

I suspect the America she’s talking about is the hippie days or FDR days.

Great post– if only anyone had actually bashed America.

There’s a difference between confidence and hubris. The Bush administration embraced hubris. Pres. Obama is wisely steering the ship back toward confidence. Hubris earns us hatred. Confidence earns us respect.

I suspect Clinton’s point is that a more `moral’ America is back again. With that said, Clinton then can hold her head high, once again proudly claiming to be an American.

When Hillary assured the rest of the world “AMERICA IS BACK”….
She was simply reaffirming our committment that “WE DON’T TORTURE”.

It’s not that complicated ditto-heads.

Pretty simple: The Bush Cabal is gone and The United States is back.
You neocons will never understand.

I sell steel all over the world. Its been absolutely amazing the difference in attitude of the people all over the world towards me as an American now .I used to avoid telling people I was an American because of the negative response.Indeed, the USA is back.
