Maureen Dowd needs to do some soul-searching

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

After reading Maureen Dowd’s satire, “Sarah’s secret diary” in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (7/9/09), which I found to be ugly, caustic and humorless with a tinge of jealousy, I spent some time reading Dominican Fr. Walter Farrell’s “Companion to the Summa” Vol. IV, which references St. Thomas Aquinas’ “Summa Theologica.”

I came across the following which I think is apropos.  During Christ’s public life, “Men were not anxious to give up the things that the perfection of the Lawgiver and His law demanded.  Something of this crops up in the daily life of every age when the pure are mocked by the impure, the just by the unjust, the truthful by liars, the merciful by the pitiless, the wise by the stupid, the industrious by the lazy, not that those things are not valued; rather, because the recognition of them in others constitutes a stinging and constant rebuke”

Maureen needs to do some soul searching.  We all do.

Maureen Dowd should have published her column in green ink ever since Palin entered the national scene. She, and many other female columnists, including one time conservative Kathleen Parker, are so jealous of Sarah, they are clearly irrational. She has it all, a husband, family, brains, principles, looks, a job, accomplishments - all without the help of feminists or the government. All impossible in their view, otherwise they would have at least some of those wonderful things.

I was not shocked when this letter I sent Saturday to the PD was not published:

“When will this juvenile taunting of Sarah Palin end? With chains and padlocks on the doors of the Post-Dispatch and puzzled employees milling about wondering where their next paycheck is coming from?

The resume of Deputy Editorial Page Editor Kevin Horrigan apparently had his time at “The Sun” redacted when Lee Enterprises bought that pig in a poke. I shudder to think of the hundreds of trees wasted producing newsprint for the national columnists, Ellen Goodman and Kathleen Parker to basically say “Meow!” (Other views, July 10)

I expect more from the rather plain looking and affection starved effete East Coast snobs, especially Ms Parker who ended her column with ‘If that is an altruism, there’s a lakeside house in Wasilla with a fabulous view of Russia you’re just gonna love.’

Does the venom coursing through Parker’s veins render her unable to distinguish actress Tina Fey’s humorous exaggeration on SNL and the fact expressed by Palin in her Charles Gibson interview? (Russian island Big Diomede is less than 2.5 miles from Alaskan island Little Diomede and is visible on a clear day)”

Maureen Dowds was spot on about Barbie the brainless bimbo. So was Peggy Noonan”s Saturday op-ed in the Wall Street Journal.

Franzen… You make it sound as if Sarah’s already a saint. But besides that, what does Maureen Dowd have to be jealous of in regard to `Bailin” Palin? Dowd is intelligent and educated; Palin isn’t. Dowd, based on her writing, put in the work to get to where she is; Palin prostituted her looks by shaking her butt. Dowd finishes what she sets out to do, such as write columns and books. Yep, there’s a lot about Palin for which Dowd should be jealous.

Well, you got 2 out of 7. She does have a husband and a family.

Maybe they didn’t publish your letter because it was crap?

Does being a Republican grandmother to an illegitimate grandson count as “family?”
What happened to those Republican “family values?” Ask Mr. Sanford!
When will we practice what we preach? The Neocon Party is in shambles!

Palin better worry that her husband doesn’t start hiking the Appalachian trail. Abstinence for the kids works doesn’t it? This soon to be unemployed bimbo should rapidly fade from memory.
