This holiday weekend, forget the celebrities and remember our heroes

On this eve of July 4th, while many are mourning, wailing and literally making fools of themselves focusing on the death of a pop culture icon, let us never forget those in uniform who have died this month; those whose lives were cut short leaving behind loved ones and families who will dearly miss them, families who will suffer with much more dignity and honor than we’ll be exposed to in this seemingly unending media circus.

Amen brother.
Well said Michael
I third that!
Thank you, Mr. Brassil, for reminding us that Independence Day is not just fireworks and hotdogs.
Thank you to all who have sacrificed so that we CAN celebrate Independence Day.
Remember that there are countless services of all faiths offered on July 4th–let’s celebrate those who have made it possible to be Americans!
Sheesh
Anybody wanna bet 10 bucks that we hear more about the death of a circus side-show freak than we do the brave men that signed the Declaration of Independence so man years ago?
Enjoy yourselfs tomorrow. The next 10 years are going to be bumpy.
-I give private thoughts of meditation and prayer to all men in uniform everyday…including my son, staff sgt. currently on sabbatical in Belize.
-We thank you all, may GOD bless you and your families…
Every day I read about heroes and ask myself “Is that person really a hero?” The bar has been lowered so much. However, our men and women who are defending our country every single day are the real heroes. We should all show them that every time we see them. I coached a young man who played hockey for me and we stay in touch. He is in the army as a medic and has been in Iraq twice. Every single time I see him I tell him how much in awe I am of him. I am so proud. Without skipping a beat he tells me that if I wasnt such a hard driving coach he wouldnt be there. Sorry, I dont buy that but if it helped him in his life then I am very happy I could help.
We as parents and adults have to teach our kids to be responsible and never make excuses for failure. It really puts tears in my eyes when I see people make excuses for failure. It effects them for the rest of their lives. We are all capable of success and need to teach our kids what we’ve learned. “I cant” was never a part of my life.
So, the Veterans are the real heroes. Happy Independence Day to everyone. Lets not make today just another day. Lets get back to fighting for our freedoms which is really our true independence!
Thanks for the reminder Michael…. oh so true.
