Global warming scare is not about saving the planet

Peter Raven’s editorial “Why we can’t wait” (9/13/09) states several ideas as undeniable facts, where they are actually just opinions.

Contrary to Mr. Raven’s assertion that “There is virtually no dissension among serious scientists that global warming is real”, in fact thousands of reputable scientists do indeed have deep doubts that global warming does exist, as well as further doubts about man’s contribution, if any, to such a trend.

For every story or article in a liberal-leaning newspaper, magazine or television news, that accepts and attempts to spread the belief that global warming is a fact and is increasingly harming the planet, there are corollary stories in the conservative press and talk radio raising serious doubts about those beliefs and their ultimate goals.

For years I have kept a personal file folder titled “Scams”, containing articles written about many controversial subjects. One article, an editorial in the Wall Street Journal dated Dec. 4, 1997 is titled “Science Has Spoken: Global Warming Is a Myth.” Many other editorials, in several other publications such an Investors Business Daily and articles written by Thomas Sowell, contain a multitude of facts casting doubt on this subject. Excerpts include “Global temperatures peaked in 1998″ , “That 1934, when far fewer carbon spewing machines existed than we have today, is the hottest year on record”, in mid-February 2009, “CO2 variations show little correlation with our planet’s climate on long, medium, and even short-time scales”, and “The world has significantly cooled in the last decade, a period that corresponds to a decline and virtual halt in sunspot activity.

Even more telling - During an Aug. 5 interview with the BBC, Gerd Leipold, outgoing executive director of Greenpeace, admitted that his organization emotionalizes issues to influence the public. “We will definitely have to move to a different concept of growth. The Lifestyle of the rich in the world is not a sustainable model.”

When all the pretense about science is stripped away, it becomes clear that the global warming scare is not about saving the planet, but about establishing egalitarianism across the world. It’s about making everyone more equal by slowing growth in rich nations to achieve global equity and “fairness”.

Wow, talk about a conspiracy theory! Scientists from various fields, the media, politicians, all combining in a plot against the rich. And I suppose it’s a crazy conspiracy that the earth is round, rotates around the sun, and is more than 5,000 years old.

The global warming hoax is about the Left wanting to control every aspect of your life. It’s the same with gov’t rationed ObamaCare, the socialists want to control what doctor you see and how much you are allowed to spend to save your life. The socialists want to make every decision for you because you’re too stupid to make your own decisions.

This is what is so fascinating. Steve has facts, more facts, and even more facts. Certified comes up with silliness. What else is new? It would be so nice if people did what Steve does. Throughout my life, over and over, there is always some kind of life ending hoax. But, for some reason there are complete loons like Certified who believe this stuff. What is worse is that they want legislation to “fix” these hoaxes and ALWAYS at the cost of the taxpayer. As I have stated many times, back in the 70’s we got to hear about the New Ice Age and Newsweek and other lefty magazines filed right in line.

You arent called certified for nothing. You are absolute proof why government schools are dangerous. Its not education anymore, its indoctrination. Over and over you people prove your idiocy to perfection!

Washington, D.C. - Today, Media Matters for America highlighted the fact that Fox News repeatedly broadcast and promoted a shocking but entirely fictitious claim made by San Bernardino ACORN employee Tresa Kaelke that she murdered her former husband.

“This is journalistic malpractice, plain and simple,” said Eric Burns, president of Media Matters. “A reporter right out of J-school would have taken the two minutes necessary to call the San Bernardino Police Department and verify Ms. Kaelke’s statements. But that never occurred to anyone at Fox News before the network ran with the story. This kind of shameful work raises serious questions about the legitimacy of the entire campaign currently being waged against ACORN.”

Let me put it this way: I’m not a scientist (and I’ve never played one on TV)but based on what I’ve seen and read I tend to believe that man is fouling his own nest in many ways. However I’ll qualify that by acknowledging that scientists have been mistaken about theories in the past and it’s entirely possible they’re wrong about this.

To call global warming theories a hoax you’re suggesting some sort of plot, a conspiracy, hinting at what Tango says specifically, that it is a plot by the left to control every aspect of our lives. You guys are paranoid. Who put this conspiracy together, Obama, the trilateral commission, Marx, FDR? Better start filtering your water to get rid of the fluoride. I’d also suggest tinfoil inside your hat to deflect the thought rays but you probably already do that. (dammit, I’m sorry, I promised myself I wouldn’t get too sarcastic)!

Steve, that file of scams must be rather thick. The section on global warming has to be the biggest.

Not quite sure how you strip away the pretense about science, but the previous administration certainly did try. The premise of Mr. Levick’s letter completely disregards scientific consensus on climate change.

So the universal consensus back in 2004 by IPCC and AMA scientists regarding human-induced climate change was somehow fabricated as part of an Obama conspiracy in 2009 to fleece us all through cap and trade? I’m having a hard time following that logic.
