They need training, not education

A number of people are opposed to the expulsion the two aggressive students on the West Belleville bus. They cite the need for the two boys to get an education. I agreed at first until I gave the matter some thought. The boys do not need formal education but they do need some good serious training. Fortunately such training is probably available and, if they qualify, it’s free. They will even make a few bucks while undergoing such training.
I personally know an Army DI and a Navy CPO who would love to transform these two young gentlemen into meaningful citizens. Of course, the end result would be a tour of duty in the Post-Dispatch’s sanctioned Afghanistan War but they will come out the better for it. (If lucky, they might even get a chance to bully some Taliban around). Indeed, if their parents were bright enough to have supported McCain last year, they might even be NCO material.

While I’m sure the military could instill some much needed self discipline in these boys, what makes you believe for one second that the armed forces would want these morons. Why should the military waste their time and resources trying to train those who can’t follow directions and can’t keep their hands to themselves. The advantage of the all volunteer military is they don’t have to take miscreants like these.
Let them join Obama’s civilian security force. I’m sure they would be made officers there.
I’m not sure “aggressive” is the correct descriptor for these characters.

Yes, military school would be great for these teenage boys but not for the purposes you imagine. It would be for both disciplinary and educational purposes. It appears that you only see them fit to be numbers to go before a death squad in Afghanistan and if that is so sir, you are one sick and pathetic human being.

Go ahead walker puke away. You don’t understand sarcasm anyway. I never boxed them as lost causes forever, I just stated it would be a waste of the military’s time and resources to have to deal with them now as the letter writer suggested. Or maybe you didn’t read that part of the original letter. Just to explain to your weak mind, the writer wanted to remove them from formal education and let the military deal with them. As far as calling them morons and miscreants, if the shoe fits….
