Democratic Party has no standing to lecture on morality
In his October 4 column about ACORN, Leonard Pitts tried to be clever as he once again scolded those who disagree with him. What a pity. When I was much younger, long before radicals stormed university offices to demand that subjects be taught in conformity with their own revolutionary views, it was understood that various media sources had differing opinions on topics of common interest, so we were advised to read or to listen to many sources before forming our own opinions. Today, however, when differences of opinion among the various media sources are patently disappearing, Mr. Pitts sees fit to imply that the FOX News staffers are insane. Obviously, those who choose to get their news from FOX are also insane, so it must be concluded that those who form opinions that do not conform to those of Mr. Pitts and his colleagues are insane. Of course, there are leaders in Congress who call those with independent opinions “traitors,” so I suppose one can ask if it is better or worse to be called insane rather than a traitor.
The world may indeed be turned upside down from the times when a person of a liberal bent of mind would say to his opponent: “I do not agree with what you say, but I agree with your right to say it.” Now, the liberal just says to his opponent; “Shut up, or I’ll pass a law to silence you!” It is possible, of course, that the world is just fine, but that it is those who were taught the precepts of the radicals who are turned upside down. Mr. Pitts’ column of last week was an example.
In that column, “Calling Liars to Account,” Mr. Pitts opined on the dishonesty of politicians in general, and with that I agree entirely. Predictably, Mr. Pitts bore down on the lies of those who disagree with him, which was okay, but he went on to pontificate on the morality of those who oppose the many health care bills that all are coalescing into an economic monstrosity. Near the end, he inserted this quotation: “. . . it’s wrong to lie, wrong to pick on the vulnerable. And . . . we have a duty to care for those who cannot care for themselves, the ones Jesus called ‘the least of these.’ ”
I will accept moral guidance from Mr. Pitts just as soon as the party and ideology that he supports drop their unwavering support for the killing of unborn human beings. Until then, I choose to believe that the economic collapse of this country will do so much harm to the poor who survive that immoral calamity that they will look back to the health care they received before Mr. Obama was elected president and say, “Those were the good old days.”
Roger W. Collins
Defiance

Roger,
–Nice read.
–The thing I found most revealing about this hysterical, (don’t mean funny) Pitts’ piece, after suggesting that those who believe the worst about ACORN, (”depends on whether you get your news from Fox or from sane people.”) were insane, he then went on to list all of the real instances of concern, as if it were straight from Fox News.
–The more they(libs) come unglued, the more hysterical (and I do mean funny) they get, and the more hypocrisy they reveal.
“I will accept moral guidance from Mr. Pitts just as soon as the party and ideology that he supports drop their unwavering support for the killing of unborn human beings.”
Is that all that it comes down to for you, Roger? If a quorum Dems change their views on abortion, you will then support Health-Care Reform?
Oh Mr. Collins, if only you had the same concerns for ‘born’ human beings, as you have for ‘unborn’ human beings.
If only…
And the Republicans DO have the credibility to lecture on morality? Isn’t there an old proverb about those living in glass houses?
Yea,
Those who smoke in grass houses shouldn’t get stoned.
“And the Republicans DO have the credibility to lecture on morality?

You Sir, are correct. NEITHER group of politicians has our best interest at heart. They are simply in it for their own political gain. They ALL need to go.
“they will look back to the health care they received before Mr. Obama was elected president”
Even those that have zero health care now? We have our modern day Prophet in Mr. Collins. What party has done anything to fix your issues? It’s all smoke and mirrors, people just say they are against abortions to get your vote and polarize the country. Nothing has ever come of it in 30+ years.
I also love the “quotes” from no one. I don’t like either party, but today’s Conservatives scare me more than today’s Liberals. As “Fair and Balanced” as Fox claims they are, nothing on TV is worth watching anymore, it’s all either too far right or too far left. All this is doing is generating ratings and polarizing the idiots in America and we have a lot of them.
Amen, Bill
Mr. Collins, please be aware of what you support. The Republican Party and its candidates give, at best, lip service to protecting the unborn and other culture of life issues. Please look before you leap off the precipice when following lemmings led by charlatans.
When The GOP had control of the US House, US Senate, and the Presidency, did any culture of life issues get voted upon, submitted for a vote or advanced except through lipservice backed up by no action?
No action was taken to repeal Roe v. Wade, and; no action taken to pass any constitutional amendment to outlaw abortions, and; we started an unjust war in Iraq where hundreds of thousands of Iraqis were slaughtered or hurt or made homeless and over 5,000 of our soldiers have died and tens of thousands more are wounded warriors, and; we continued to kill children and the mentally retarded through the cruel and unsual punishment of death (until stopped by the US Supreme Court!),and; we tortured in the name of “freedom,” and; we allowed children in America to starve to death, die from lack of healthcare and suffer from little or no opportunity because of lack of access to proper education, and; we destroyed our environment with “Clear Skies”, “Healthy Forests” and other such radical neocon claptrap, and; we lopst trillions of dollars in the value of assets held by average Americans and bailed out those responsible for crushing the middle Class and the American Dream, and no one has gone to jail (just dumping more hundreds of millions into the campaign coffers of the Republicans!).
Yeah, support Republicans because Democrats want to help average Americans, not the already too rich.
I have been searching for 6 months, reading blogs in over twenty different newspapers from around the country, trying to find someone with a lower IQ than TIM HOGAN……..the search goes on.
