No on Prop E until they tell us where the excess money will go

Regarding the editorial “Yes on Prop E-911″ (Oct. 15). It will cost about $4 million a year for annual maintenance, but the tax will generate approximately $16 million a year. Where will the other $12 million go? It now makes sense why so many greedy municipalities have endorsed this proposition.

Look at your phone bills. They already confiscate enough of your money to complete this project. The local governments call this tax collection, I call it what it really is, confiscation.

Jason is right, where is the rest of the money going?

Yep, once in a while they’re right. Where is the money going? NO until we know!

Jason - you are no longer supposed to question authority…didn’t you get the memo from Comrade Obama? Just vote yes, pay more taxes and don’t worry about the $12 million left over. Our government will do the right thing and put it in Al Gore’s “lock box” for safe keeping.

The first priority of any government is to enforce the law. Likewise, the first budget priority is to fund enforcement of the law. When a government gets to the end of its budget process and finds that it forgot to support the ability of our law enforcement officers to communicate it tells me that St. Louis County forgot its first priority. Addtionally, they politicize the issue by putting it on the ballot so that the passage of a tax increase is essentially assured. Shame on the County Executive and the Council for belittling such an important issue in this way.
