There should be no surprise about the state of our economy

I don’t know why people are so surprised at what George W. Bush did to the economy. Anyone with a decent memory was unsurprised, as I was. When Ronald “Gubmint isn’t the solution, gubmint is the problem.” Reagan was in office, he deregulated the S&L industry and the rich instantly went into an orgy of greed that destroyed the S&L industry. Reagan’s handpuppet, George H.W. Bush, then forced the american public to pay for the damages that the rich had done under the auspices of Reagan’s deregulation.

Then little Bush deregulated the financial industry and presto! Another orgy of naked greed by the rich and the financial industry was left a smoldering ruin, and again the people of america are being forced to pay for the damage the rich did under the banner of “Deregulation”.

That’s what republicans do when they’re in power: They tear down the protections democratic administrations put up to protect america and the average american from the naked avarice of the rich, essentially pulling america’s pants down, then give the rich a jar of vaseline and let them go to it without interference. Later the american people are shaken down to pay for the damages done to them and their country. Anyone objecting to this is accused of “class warfare” or “Socialism” by the corporate dominated media.

Working class people who vote republican are, essentially, voting to make their lives and their families’ lives worse while making things better for the tiny minority of billionaires in america. I don’t care if they get what they deserve, but I don’t like getting what they deserve.

–I don’t know which is more offensive, the wanton revisionist history or the “vaseline” reference. Nice.

–Deregulation of the S&L industry was a democrat plan from the beginning (1934). http://www.econlib.org/library/Enc/SavingsandLoanCrisis.html

–And it was people like the Clintons, lawyers and re probate politicians who exploited the situation also via faux real-estate deals that preyed on liable savings and loan institutions. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/…/whitewater/whitewater.htm

The present situation had nothing to do with deregulation, but had everything to do with democrat led over-regulation of the financial industry, forcing them to make loans to those who couldn’t qualify previously, resulting in a false market which collapsed under it’s own weight.

–As to the “vaseline” reference, typical though of the P.D. to allow such “euphemisms” when arguing from the left. I’d like to see a conservative get such silliness past the ’site editors’.

Bullman,

–Fitting moniker.

I give the left credit, their class warfare gameplan has worked to perfection. Letters like this are proof. Their constituency gets more dependent and more stupid every generation. I can’t find a hint of truth in it.

Mr. Bull….

I agree there should be no surprise about the state of our economy. Our economy was running strong until January 2007, when the dems took control of both houses. It then started the downward spiral, and in January of this year, it spiraled out of control when the dems took over the White House, and today it hasn’t slowed.

With “Your Messiah” at the helm, unemployment is now at the 17% actual rate, or 9.8% the govie rate. He promised unemployment would not exceed 8% if the dems would pass the 787 billion dollar stimilus. He LIED, and unemployment is still rising.

Hows all that hopey changy thingy working for ya, when the working man ain’t working because of “Your Messiah’s” inability to lead this country while his head is BURIED in the sand?

Obama is doing exactly as planned: spending us into oblivion and tell the American people their only way out is for gov’t to provide everything to them.

The Depression in the ’30’s will look like a cake walk compared to what we’re in for. His czars and toadies worship Mao, a man that was responsible for over 50 million deaths because the Chinese wouldn’t acccept his brand of totalitarianism.

This administration is Marxist and there’s no way you can deny that. His cabinet is made up of college teachers and professors that have theorized that the best gov’t is one that controls every aspect of the citizen’s lives.

If the Socialist Party passes gov’t rationed ObamaCare when 55% of Americans don’t want it, it will be the end of the Socialist Party. Hopefully, the 2 parties remaining will be the Republicans and the Libertarians. The Dept of Education, Dept of Energy, etc. will be NO MORE. Teacher’s Unions will be decimated. OSHA, FEMA, etc. will be pared down to a maintainable level. Hopefully, hundreds of thousands of gov’t employees will have to find another way to make a living. The US Post office shut down and run by a business that has a sustainable business model.

People are chomping at the bit to vote in 2010 to show Obama they don’t want communism in the US.

Shameless Russ is a natural-born loser fond of nestling up against that big government boob. Never underestimate the wanton ignorance of clunker bottom feeders. Is he seeking the Comic Relief Czar position with B.O.’s stench-filled administration?

Mangum,

You might have a point to make if the fact that the current recession wasn’t well on the way before any member of Congress took an oath prior to January 2007.

Let’s see…Wall Street collapsing, Banks failing, Two wars lasting much longer than WWII and costing just as much, Privatized Armies raping their own and killing marines in the showers, Investment firms raking in taxpayer money by the billions, Homeowners losing their homes…..

Not bad for 14 years of Republican control of Congress and 8 years in the Whitehouse.

Jellio

You forgot to blame Bush because congress is not passing “Messiahcare”. With such a majority in the house and senate, what is stopping the dems from passing ANYTHING they so desire? Are they afraid of the current and future backlash of trying to socialize this country?

Russ,
You are an example of why economics is called the “dismal” science. Any idiot with half a brain, like you or the PD editorial staff, thinks he is an economist. You do a diservice to your country and to history by parroting lies from your left-wing hate sights.
The S&L industry was created under law by a Democrat Congress and was an accident waiting to happen. They borrowed short while lending long. As interest rates rose, the had to borrow at higher and higher interest rates while their assets earned the same low rate. Ergo, they went bankrupt when their cost of funds exceeded their return on assets.
The rest of your screed is so vacuous, I don’t feel the need to comment because any reasonable person can see what an ignorant ideologue you are.

300,000 pages of federal registry. I’m drowning in deregulation.

Ever notice the stank of the pile of pooh is equal to the distance of government?
