Yes on Prop N so that we may bowl again

I bowled nearly every day for two years as a varsity bowler in high school, but today I rarely step foot in a bowling alley. Despite my passion for the sport, I have no desire to expose myself to the secondhand smoke nor the smell that lingers long after the game. The Greater St. Louis Bowling Proprietors Association should look at Proposition N as an opportunity and not a hindrance to their business. Eliminating smoking will give them a chance to win back non-smokers and families. I now have two children who I would enjoy taking to a bowling alley, but I prefer to spend time with them at non-smoking establishments.

A family of four, or better yet child’s party, will bring more business and energy to a bowling alley and potentially long term business. A smoking ban could be a stepping stone for bowling alleys, and other businesses that are unknowingly losing customers due to the unhealthy habits of some of their patrons, to gain new set of regulars.

Is there anything else we can do for you? Ban anyone from driving in your preferred lane? Outlaw fatty foods so you dont have to worry about whether the stuff your kids are eating is healthy? Ban alcohol? Foul smelling perfume?

Just name it Meg, we’ll get right to work making it better for YOU.

Meg,
If there was enough desire for a non smoking bowling alley, Someone would open one! apperently there is not. Thats the wonderfull thing about a free market. People will always try to get the best market share.

Don,

–Better yet, since Meg is so sure that your propisition is an efficable one, perhaps she should open one, and put her money where her beliefs are.

–That is how the free market is supposed to work.

Si Vis and Amazed, you totally missed Meg’s point: Prop N will not only be better for her, it’s also better for the bowling alley. It’s a win-win for all. And I’m like her–I can’t wait to finally take my family bowling after Prop N passes.

Meg,
Don’t let morons like Para Bellum change your mind. There are so many things people can’t do because of smokestacks like him/her think they have the right to ruin conditions for those of us who don’t like to breath in air pollution. People who have allergies and asthma are kept from enjoying activities in close spaces because of selfish idiots like this writer who chose to fill their lungs with tar and other carcinogens. Maybe he’d like to pay your medical bill when YOU come down with lung cancer?
So, you stand your ground, Meg. Many more are supporting you on this than they are on this jerk.

Toots;

That’s funny. I do believe that smokers are already paying for medical insurance. Wasn’t that what the whole Big Tobacco settlement was all about? No, I forgot that all about the states getting their money to spend on pork. Well isn’t that what the HUGE increase in taxes on tobacco is all about? No, again that was all about governments (State and Fed) getting more money to spend on pork. Well smokers MUST be paying SOMEBODY’S bill, after all that is what both the Government and the main stream media have all said. So it must be true. RIGHT???

Meg, call Lord Obama and see if you can use the White House bowling alley. I’m sure that is smoke free…..free like his health care plans. (wink-wink)

I’ve heard some cogent, reasonable arguments for restricting smoking, some with more merit than others, but please, bowling?
