Bishops should stop wasting church’s money

I have a problem with so many bishops sending so much money in an attempt to defeat a gay marriage amendment. Do these bishops have written documentation that same sex attraction is strictly a matter of choice and not in the person’s genes? If they don’t, then I see the actions of the bishops as wasting the church’s money–these funds could be a lot more effective if they were used to help pull the nation (those in poverty particularly) out of economic mess it is in. Or this money could have been spent to help the starving people around the world. This begs the question ‘what would Jesus do?’

They still have money to spend after paying off all of the children molested by straight priests?

JohnBell-do YOU have written documentation that sexual attraction isnt a matter of choice? The purpose of organized religion is to promote morality, not perversion. The winds of trendiness do not change the word of the Lord. Sodomy has always been an evil and a sin that religion opposses.

farit al akeem - Being gay is not a choice. Why would anyone in their right mind choose it. Did you choose to be heterosexual? Did you ever hear of separation of church and state? “Sodomy” may be a sin in your religion, but churches have no right to force the government to discriminate against gays based upon their beliefs. What if my religion said thay you were a sinner? Would that give me the right to discriminate against you based upon my beliefs?

If the church believes that homosexuality is a choice, then how about all of the heterosexual people “choose” to be gay for a day? Try it. Could you be gay for just one day? Exactly. There is no choice.
I believe sending money to Maine is an insult to those who put their money in the basket.
I could NEVER believe this is what Jesus would do. Hanging around the poor, prostitutes and lepers? Making no judgements?
nice letter, Mr. Bell.
