Desecration by omission

I find it ironic, contradictory and at the same time amusing that Republicans are regularly ranting about “desecration of the flag”.

But at a huge Republican rally they select a Congressman from Missouri to recite the Pledge — who then, before an audience of thousands, proceeds to desecrate IT by omitting one of the most important words.

D Feral one,

–Seriously, this is the best you’ve got? No wonder you are feral.

Ironic that the word he stumbled over was “indivisible”.

Kind of pale’s in comparison to Joe Biden asking a man in a wheelchair to stand up, don’t you think??

Well your letter would have been more effective if you brought up the ironic fact that Akin just moments earlier made a quip that he was going to recite the Pledge because it “drives liberals crazy”. Then he goes and screws it up!

You are right Mr. Akin. It does drive a patriotic liberal like myself crazy when jingoisitic conservatives like you read the pledge wrong! I know, I know, you were just rushing to scream the “UNDER GOD” part (which ironically was only added in the 1950’s) to please the evangelicals.

You can’t ‘desecrate’ the flag, or the pledge. desecration is a specific religious act, and we are a secular republic.

People do disrespect the flag, which is unfortunate, but this is protected speech, so best to just ignore them, and focus on making this a great nation.

As for Mr. Akin; so he bumbled the Pledge; And???? Really; if it’s that bad then Jon Stewart and David Letterman will take care of it. Don’t we have better things to worry about?

Actually you are correct reality check. We do have better things to worry about. And Congressman Akin, as a public servant, should DEFINITELY have better things to worry about than using the Pledge of Allegiance for political purposes. Especially if he can’t say it correctly. This guy needs to be voted out!

We should indeed consider ourselves blessed that he wasn’t invited to sing the National Anthem.

I would much rather a Politician stumble on the Pledge of allegiance than force feed us Socialism.

If there’s a God in heaven, he’ll let me give clunkers Ferrel and skahtt a pop quiz on basic but “most important” Constitution facts. I can assure you that they’d be craving some grading on a curve. Must have been a slow day behind their shameless ACORN desks.
