How does 41 now beat 59?

St. Louis Post-Dispatch
I have just one question about the healthcare debate and the now permanent threat of filibuster. If we live in a democracy, why is it that in the U.S. Senate, 41 votes now beats 59 votes? Can anyone seriously defend that?

Now that the sideshow is over, let’s get health care reformed

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Now that the Senate Finance Committee’s seemingly never-ending sideshow of “death panels” and other scare tactics is over.  I certainly hope that our elected representatives move quickly to pass meaningful healthcare reform.  This needs to contain costs, expand coverage, provide…

If they pass national health care, our reps. should be covered by it, too

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

We need to employ some Iranians to help us count the vote in the Minnesota Senatorial race. Iran could certify their winner in less than 6 days and we can’t declare a winner in 6 months. In the meantime, the one…

It should be simple to get corrupt politicians out of office

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

I’m amazed. Illinois politics are a disgrace to the United States, and Sen. Burris wants to add to that disgrace. He appears to have been untruthful about his dealings with the governor of Illinois and refuses to resign in light…

A simple act shows hypocrisy of senators

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) was flown in a U.S. government airplane from his mother’s wake in Ohio to Washington D.C. so that he could vote on the stimulus bill. He was then returned to Ohio in the same manner to…

Because we hold senators to a higher standard, Burris should go

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

On February 16, the Post-Dispatch printed”Burris Under Fire over Affidavit”.
It should be obvious to every American with common sense that U.S. Sen. Roland Burris (D-IL) lied. Roland Burris testified under oath he had no contact with any of former Illinois…

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

The gig is up! When another year of Congress is in the can – months from now – you can bet a huge pile of bills will have been passed. These bills, that you’d think your congressman / senators actually…
