Facebook users still unhappy with new look

After living a few weeks with the new Facebook interface, some users of the popular social networking site are still fighting to make things the way they used to be.

In these days of social networking, it is perhaps fitting that protesters are actually using Facebook to protest against Facebook. They’ve formed a group, “1,000,000 AGAINST THE NEW FACEBOOK LAYOUT!” to voice their outrage over the change.

As of now, the group has more than 2.67 million members. And apparently they are planning a two-day boycott on Oct. 18 and 19.

It’s not the only Facebook group created to protest the new design, which, according to Facebook, has now become the default for almost all of its members. Another group called “Petition Against the New Facebook” has more than 1.6 million backers, while the group “I hate the new Facebook” has 1.5 million supporters.

It’s likely that there is a lot of overlap among these groups’ supporters, but if the largest group contains all of those opposed to the new design, that’s still a significant number of unhappy members. Facebook has 100 million active users.

The people need to “put down” the Facebook, walk away from the “bar”, and GET A LIFE!

Seriously what is wrong with the facebook profile lay out? Its much easier to navigate around and I cannot believe that people are making such a big fuss while there are 16 million people in Horn Africa starving from lack of food.

No, that is the bad thing, you cannot change back once you try it and it’s a mess and horrible.

I HATE the new facebook! It’s way to busy and it’s not as organized as it used to be. It was nice being able to view information on one page instead of clicking on multiple tabs. Also, certain applications don’t work with the new facebook. Seriously though, why do they need to keep changing it? People get used to using the site and then have to completely relearn it.

I agree… Once you get used to using something, the last thing you want is to re-learn it. Its like Microsoft constantly changing Office, why fix what is not broken????

It’s funny. I was thinking this very thing the other night while messing around with something on my computer. My laptop is still running XP, while my desktop is using Vista. The differences in the control panel menus left me wondering if some of the changes weren’t made simply for the sake of change.

The new Facebook is terrible! There are far too many tabs to navigate, and the overall speed of moving from page to page has decreased significantly. And rather than make a social commentary on the state of our nation, we should look to the fact that there are millions of people starving in America also. Furthermore, using Facebook represents the paradigm mode of communication in a technologically-advancing world, because it is a great way to connect with people around the world with minimal effort.
