University of Oklahoma adds rules for student athletes use of social networks
The University of Oklahoma is taking some proactive steps to keep its student athletes from getting into trouble (image-wise) on social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace.
ESPN is reporting that the University’s new code of conduct for athletes includes a section aimed at social networking. Violation of those rules can be punished by “education, counseling, suspension or expulsion and with the reduction or cancellation of financial aid.”
It warns athletes not to post pictures that would portray them negatively nor post contact information that agents or their runners could use to put the athletes’ eligibility in jeopardy.
“‘Partying,’ ‘drinking,’ and ‘getting wasted’ do not qualify as real hobbies or interests,” the policy warns.
You have to love that last part. And you have wonder if that shouldn’t be included in a general code of conduct for everyone these days.

they don’t want any bad PR from their little dollar signs. Funny, they don’t care about the rest of the student body. Would it really be suprising to find out that your favorite college football player is a meathead that loves beer bongs and skanky women? I think it is expected.
This is worthy of dicussion? I can’t think of one reason it is. I’m curious, why does the PD think it is? Enlighten me.
