U.S. Postal Service site suffers Click-N-Ship glitch
Tim Barker
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Just in time for the holiday shopping/shipping season, one of the most popular features found at USPS.com is having some trouble. Click-N-Ship, a shipping tool popular with some e-Bay sellers and many small businesses, has been essentially out of commission since late Monday afternoon.

Rich Watkins, one of the postal service’s state spokesmen, said workers are pushing to get the site repaired, and could have it working again by later today.

“It’s one of our most popular online services,” Watkins said. “It couldn’t have happened at a worse time for us, obviously.”

Until it’s been fixed, the postal service is recommending a couple other sites to help with shipping needs.

We have taken every step to resolve the situation, and continue to work around the clock both internally and with our external partners. In the interim, Click-N-Ship and WebTools customers please visit one of our approved vendors: Endicia.com or Stamps.com for your shipping needs.

And, now, in the interest of full disclosure, I feel compelled to admit that I would have gotten this posted more than an hour ago - if not for a glitch suffered by this paper’s own Web site.
