It’s not here quite yet, but it looks like Netflix is considering new subscriptions plans for people who’d like cut out the middleman - the Post Office.

A Reuters story posted on Wired.com says the company that revolutionized our relationship with home movies is planning to offer an option for customers who prefer to watch programming streamed directly over the Internet.

McCarthy stressed the company still remains focused on providing a bundled offering, but said he understands that some viewers will find a stand-alone streaming service to be compelling, particularly as more compatible devices become prevalent.

I think I still like the idea of having that disk in hand. But then again, I have pretty good luck getting DVDs that seem to have been used as Frisbees or drink coasters by previous customers. I guess I’d never have to worry about damaged disks again if started viewing everything streamed.

Streaming only plans would be great, but only a small percentage of their movies can be watched instantly.
