What would our lives be without a new version of our favorite program on it way? Not that Internet Explorer is my favorite program - as I seldom use it - but you know what i mean.

Microsoft is bringing out the newest incarnation of the one of the world’s most used Web browsers.

I haven’t had time to play with Internet Explorer 8, but here are a few links to some reviewers who have:

Christopher Null at Yahootech: It’s a glitzy improvement over IE7 in many cases, but it has some major problems that make it virtually impossible to recommend.

Preston Gralla at ComputerWorld: If you’re a fan of add-ins and customizing the browser itself, Firefox is superior. But for the actual browsing experience, Internet Explorer has the upper hand — for now.

Michael Muchmore at PCmag.com: I really like what Microsoft has done with Internet Explorer. The new browsing conveniences, tab behavior, security protections, and standards support offer a potent combo. But despite these very laudable improvements and feature niceties, the Mozilla browser still has a slight edge.

Personally, I’ve really grown to like Firefox. And I have to say I get a little tired of trying to keep up with interface changes - Facebook, anyone? - so I’ll probably just stick with what feels comfortable for now.

Now they’ve brought it out they can take it back in again.

Once support at Juno suggested I try Firefox to rid
my connection of some sort of pop-up-box-from-hell
(from A-dopey, supposedly) I knew I had at least
one way to boycott the products of the man who does
everything he can for mud-ducks who hate my nation,
don’t do anything in particular for the good of
all mankind and need to learn not to breed but treats
those who made him rich like shit.

Firefox couldn’t stop the pop-up box from hell, or from A-dopey, or where ever it was coming from, but
paying a nominal fee to another service provider and
ditching the paid offline email account from Juno
sure did stop it.

It’s so nice to watch Firefox loading up when I start
my session and to know that there is something
The Evil Empire had very little do to with. I still
use a few old DOS 3rd-party programs for other things too, and they all ROCK compared to anything The
Evil Empire provides to do the same task.
