Kariya’s MRI is good news for Blues

The Blues finally got some good news on the injury front. Paul Kariya had an MRI taken on his “lower-body” injury and nothing serious was found. The Blues say Kariya will miss Saturday’s game in LA, but he should be ready when the Blues play next Wednesday in Buffalo.

Kariya had been dealing with a hip injury the past several weeks, but he left Wednesday’s game in Anaheim shortly after being hit in the foot on a shot by Chris Pronger. It’s not known which injury caused Kariya to leave the game and have the MRI, but it’s more than likely that the MRI was for the foot.

“He had the MRI and it came out pretty good,” Blues President John Davidson said. “He should be ready to go for Buffalo if all goes well. I spoke with him and that’s what he was saying. Nothing is ever in stone, but the MRI rules out a lot of stuff, which is good. . . . He’s just got some soreness that’s going to take a couple of days and away he goes.”

JD said that no one will be called up from Peoria for Saturday’s game in LA. The Blues will use the same lineup they had in San Jose.
