Manny Legace is day-to-day; Ben Bishop called up
Thursday, 11:45 a.m: The Blues are saying that Manny Legace is day-to-day and probably won’t even back up tonight in Los Angeles. Ben Bishop took a red-eye last night and is expected to play behind Chris Mason tonight.
Earlier update:
Late Wednesday-early Thursday, 12:43 a.m.: I’m riding in a bus from Anaheim to LA . . .
For those who didn’t see it, Legace was kneed in the head Wednesday by Anaheim’s Ryan Carter on the Ducks’ first goal in the first period.
As George Parros buried a rebound shot for a 1-1 score, Carter skated in front of the net - all alone - and lifted his right knee into the left side of Legace’s head. Legace lay on the ice before he was taken off by Blues trainer Ray Barile.
Here’s what Legace said after the game:
“I’m a little foggy,” Legace said. “All that I know is that the goal is in and he comes skating by and there’s nobody pushing him and there’s nobody on him. He could have avoided it. It’s something to look at.”
Blues coach Andy Murray said that goaltender interference should have been called on the play.
“Whether it’s an accident or on purpose, you can’t make contact with the goaltender . . . that’s the rule,” Murray said. “The referee didn’t see it that way, so we have to believe his interpretation. The bottom line is they must not have seen it or they would have called it. I think if they’d seen it, they definitely would have called it.”

How did they not see the knee to the head? There’s 4 of them. They saw it, just didn’t have the kahonas to make a call because a goal was scored. Stastny took care of it though (tongue in cheek).
