Report says Anaheim defenseman Chris Pronger is off the market
According to Mike Brophy of sportsnet.ca, Anaheim general manager Bob Murray has decided not to trade Ducks defenseman Chris Pronger before today’s NHL trade deadline. The deadline is 2 p.m. St. Louis time.
The report says that Murray has informed Pronger and his agent, Pat Morris, of his decision.
The Orange County-Register said sources told that newspaper Tuesday that “any potential deal for Pronger was unlikely given that Murray had not received even one offer that would tempt him to move Pronger.”
The Blues have expressed interest in Pronger, sources have told the Post-Dispatch. The names of David Perron, Roman Polak, Alex Pietrangelo and even T.J. Oshie were thought to be players the Ducks would have interest in if they moved Pronger.
As it looks this morning, the Ducks, who remain in the playoff hunt in the Western Conference, will hang onto Pronger for now and then revisit their plans of dealing him at the NHL draft in June.
Never say never, but with Murray communicating his intentions to the Pronger camp not to trade the all-star defenseman and former Blue, it’s looking less likely that he’ll be moved.
