St. Louis Blues goalie Manny Legace placed on waivers
The Blues will place goaltender Manny Legace on waivers this morning at 11 a.m., the Post-Dispatch has learned.
The team will know this weekend whether Legace has been claimed by another team. If he is not, Legace will be sent to Peoria.
“It’s extremely tough,” Legace said this morning. “You play your heart out for a team, and the minute you hit a little bit of a rough patch, they dump on you. It was very hard to hear.”
Legace is 13-9-2 this season with a 3.18 goals-against average and an .885 save-percentage.

little rough patch. He has been aweful
He’s had a bit of a rough stretch, but I don’t understand this move. I guess no other team wanted him? Is he going to back up Bishop? I would think they would want Bishop playing otherwise they’d bring him up to back up Mason. If Manny is going to be a backup, I’d rather have him up here than in Peoria. Wonder if Tampa will pick him up?
Legace was a great goalie for us during most of his time in St. Louis, and every goalie goes through a rough patch sometimes (just look at Turco in Dallas for most of this season). With all the injuries (some of which weren’t his fault, see carpet on the ice in October), and not starting on a regular basis, it can be hard for a goalie to get their consistency back. And yes Mason has played well as of late and seems like a good guy, but I’ll believe he is ready to be #1 when his consistency matches that of Scott Clemmensen’s in New Jersey (granted a much more experienced team, but Clemmensen’s consistency and outstanding play of his own has allowed the Devils to continue rolling).
Legace seemed like the perfect person to mentor Bishop in the next few years, he’s been through the ups and downs, started for a powerhouse Detroit team and rebuilding Blues team, backup to up a Stanley Cup champion. I wish him well wherever he winds up next.
Here we go. Another Kurt Warner situation in St. Louis. The minute a player hits a rough spot they’re gone. I truely would like to see Manny finish his career in St. Louis even it is being the back-up to Mason. That will be a better alternative to sending him down to Peoria.
Best news I’ve heard this year. He’s been brutal ALL year.
It’s professional sports “Jeff”. Were not dating and going through a rough patch. Time to part ways. It’s busienss and we need to evenutally make the playoffs. Playoffs = revenues = fans being happy = our owners willing to hit the free agent market. Thank god you’re not our GM.
“the minute you hit a little bit of a rough patch, they dump on you”
Wow, how about “after more than a half a season of playing horribly with an occasional bit of random good play, they finally stopped being stupidly loyal”.
Manny was good last season, but this season he has only been good for one or two weak goals a game. Turning on your defensemen, DURING A GAME, for a weak 5-hole shot you let in is unacceptable. He’s the new Belfor, but with less talent and more issues.
Here’s hoping someone claims him and he can straighten himself out, I don’t want to risk him in a Blues uniform again.
Shame on you people, Manny has been loyal to us, you could at least show him a little support.
I will miss him, but I understand if someone picks him up he should have been allowed to retire with dignity in St. Louis like he wanted to for being the reason we were able to compete at all last year!
Manny had 4 wins in the beginning of the season only one loss before the carpet issue (thanks Palin) which was the start of his injuries this year!
“He was kneed in the head in the first period of a 4-2 loss at Anaheim on Dec. 10. He also suffered what the team described as a lower body injury during a game on Jan. 19 at Boston.”-The Canadian Press
Why is it okay for Johnson, McDonald, and Kayria to sit out for the rest of the season, and “get in top condition for next year”, and yet Manny was rushed back to the net!
The shutout last Sat was nice with Mason, however last nights shoot out proves that Mason is not a starting goalie!
Legace is a great player but remember THIS IS A BUSINESS. i have complete trust in JD. hes doing great stuff for the Blues, maybe they are clearing cap space to bring in a big name.
Wow. Are you really going to blame Manny for having a bad season considering the play of the rest of the team in front of him? Not to mention a crazed head coach who publicly bashes his players… How many seasons does Murray get??
Yes, it is a business, but you win and lose as a TEAM.
