Seeking to make a change that will help the Blues dig out of a 3-0 deficit in their first-round series against Vancouver, coach Andy Murray shook up his lines at Monday’s morning skate. Jeremy Rutherford called in from the rink to report the following lines are on the ice this morning at Scottrade:

1st line: Andy McDonald, LW / David Backes, C / David Perron, RW
2nd line: T.J. Oshie, LW / Yan Stastny, C* / Brad Boyes, RW
3rd line: Alex Steen, LW /Jay McClement, C / Brad Winchester, RW
4th line: Cam Janssen, LW / Patrik Berglund, C / B.J. Crombeen, RW

* Stastny was on the second line this morning in place of Keith Tkachuk, who did not practice.

where is kariya? i’m thinking he’s sitting out to not get hurt so he can get traded. what other reason could he have for not playing after having been cleared medically.

kariya isnt playing because he isnt game ready, has alot of rust, no timing, it would be a mistake to put him in. It also isnt his decision, it’s Murray’s

I know STL has not been getting the Versus feed, but both announcers on there last night said that Kariya should be in the line up for the next game since the Blues lost. Said it couldn’t hurt. Great player and great on the pp. They talked to Kariya between periods and he said he is ready.

Do you really think the ‘nucks would let up on PK just because he’s back after 2 hip surgeries??? Medically cleared doesn’t mean PLAYOFF ready. As much a help as he’d be IF he were 70%, he’s going to be such a huge key next year and badly needed, I’d just as soon not take the chance of him getting hurt just for another 1 to 4 games. If we can pull off the miracle that gives him another week or so of rest and practice, THEN maybe bring him back in.

I agree, if the series was 0-0 or we were up… That is the time to bring back Kariya… These are the kids that got you to the playoff, you have to win or lose with them…

Unfortunately, at this point in time, the Canucks are the better playoff team, and having Luongo in goal has been huge for them (Mason has been good but still seems somewhat prone to the occasional “soft” goal). But luck has nothing to do with how the Blues have fared over the last number of months. They have been far and wide the most hard-working, opportunistic group of players in the NHL, to storm into the playoffs as they did. Come next year, when everyone is healthy and skating on the same page, I would pit this Blues team against anyone in the NHL, certainly Vancouver and dare I say Detroit!
