DENVER, COLO. - The Blues are saying that forward prospect Aaron Palushaj is “very lucky” after slicing his left foot in Saturday’s 4-2 loss to Dallas.

Palushaj crashed awkwardly into the boards and, as he did, his right skate came down on top of his left skate.

“It’s a nasty cut,” Blues President John Davidson said. “One heel of his blade came down on top of his other foot, went right through the skate, through the tongue of the skate, and badly into his foot.

“He is so lucky there was no severed nerves or tendons, nothing. I can’t believe how lucky he is. But it was a pretty severe cut. He’s very sore today.”

Davidson said that Palushaj, the Blues’ second-round pick in 2007, would be immobilized for a couple of days.

“We’ve got to let it heal,” Davidson said. “There’s the opportunity for infection.”
Palushaj, who likely will head to Peoria to play in the American Hockey League at start the season, was having an impressive training camp, according to Davidson.

“Aaron was great in Traverse City, (Mich.) at the rookie tournament,” Davidson said. “He’s a rink rat and I like that. He’s skilled. He’s got a real upside.”

Sounds nasty - get well soon. Hope to see him with the big club sometime this year.

Great to hear nothing went horribly, hes been one of the brighter young prospects thus far. I was hoping he would make the cut, no pun intended, so hopefully this isn’t too big of a setback with the next date for trimming rosters looming ahead.
